Pakeha Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 We were going to stay in Krabi for a couple of weeks but now I'm thinking Sikao could be better - closer to family in Trang. Can anyone comment on what it's like to stay in Sikao for a family holiday. We will have all ages - adults, teens, young kids. Just want reasonable accommodation, some eating out options, good beach to take the kids to, a bit off activity - markets, shops etc. and safety!
schondie Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Sikao is a nice safe area but after the sun sets there's not much to do compared to places in Krabi. The last time I stayed there I saw a few foreign tourists milling around but nothing for them to do. Most of the seafront places shut down but there's a couple of little shops for snacks and drinks.
grumpyoldman Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Hat Chao Mai National Park has cabins that you can rent, as well as kayaks you can use to see nearby caves, 4-6kms of beach coastline going up to Pak Meng. It's awesome. For sure a super adventure for the family. Tents are a go too, all kids like a good campout. Hopefully the mods are ok. with an expedia link (?), I'm not afflited or a promoter, just have been there and know it's GREAT. Pakeha Posted November 22, 2014 Author Posted November 22, 2014 I love Hat Chao Mai and Pak Meng is pretty cool - for a day. I think it'd be a bit quiet for a longer stay. Have they cleaned Pak Meng up? Last time I was there a few years ago it was still pretty damaged from the Tsunami. It has great potential. Might try to do a few nights at Hat Chao Mai. Thanks for the recommendation! How do you find / book the cabins?

There's a Thailand National Parks website, I believe an English version, but if unable to navigate that, might take a Trang 3rd party travel agent to get it done.Markup would be minimal for the service.
Pakeha Posted November 22, 2014 Author Posted November 22, 2014 Thanks. I'll make some inquiries in Trang.Much appreciated!!
Briggsy Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I went there over 10 years ago. It was much quieter than Krabi. There was one resort with a private beach. Not sure how they managed that.
