lopburi3
Can not provide Nationwide information but the change in Thailand is 1/4 of one percent in the range 200 baht up to 500 baht - so most transfers are actually less than 500 baht fee. KittenKong
If sending money from the UK to a Thai branch of Bangkok Bank then you may find that doing it via Bangkok Bank London is the simplest and best way of doing it: http://www.bangkokbank.com/bangkokbank/personalbanking/dailybanking/transferingfunds/transferringintothailand/receivingfundsfromuk/Pages/ReceivingFundsfromUK.aspx
wgdanson
HSBC is only 4 quid for a Swift transfer, and money here same day, or next at latest.
KittenKong
HSBC is only 4 quid for a Swift transfer, and money here same day, or next at latest. I just checked their website and that is indeed a bargain price.

Also would be a hassle and costly to go to London to do a transfer even if you live in UK. I did a transfer last week and paid £20. I didn't see any fee from BB, but it might have been included in the exchange rate. I just saw a credit in my BB account. Money arrived day after I sent it. That's great but of no use if you have a Nationwide account. Nationwide are better than HSBC in lots of ways, so I wouldn't change accounts just to save a little on a Swift transfer. chiang mai
Nationwide International in the IOM is now regarded as being branch of Nationwide UK, interestingly, the IOM branch uses HSBC London as their intermediary for international transfers, ergo, so does Nationwide UK. http://www.nationwideinternational.com/operating_files/pay_in/sterling_non_uktransfer.htm Edited September 30, 2014 by chiang mai

It is very suitable for anyone who lives in Thailand and has UK internet banking. You dont have to go to London to do the transfer: you do it as an internal UK FPS/BACS payment from your UK account to Bangkok Bank London, and Bangkok Bank London send it to your Thai Bangkok Bank account. MichaelJohn
I transfer money from Nationwide to Kasikorn. NW charge £20 fixed. Kasikorn charge B500 fixed. Always arrives next day.
jacky54
Nationwide charge is 25 pounds, make sure you tick withdraw extra fee from receiving bank and not sending. I did not at one time and Tanachart decided that entitled them to charge me 1250 baht for processing- the same as the NW fee.
The Fat Controller
Jacky54, I am afraid you are wrong regarding the Nationwide fee, as of July 2014 it has been reduced to £20 http://www.nationwide.co.uk/support/payments-and-transfers/specialist-payments/swift-payments#xtab:fees-and-charges To the OP, the only charges I have ever had in the last 11 years are the Nationwide fee and the receiving bank fee in Thailand, which for Bangkok Bank is 0.25% of the amount received with a maximum charge of 500 Baht
sidjameson
Fees are only half the deal. Check the exchange rate.

I have been using this method to transfer money from my UK Nationwide account to my Bangkok Bank account here for the last 3 years. Very straightforward once you set it up, and the rate if converted to baht at this end has been favourable.
