jollyhangmon Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Better tag the criminals and give them a curfew. ... actually tagging all perps has been considered during the mulling but then they just went the cheaper way when learning that tourists are lower in numbers ... 1
khunpa Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 For sure with the amount of stupid comments and ideas they are pushing out on a daily-bases right now, they will not need to produce many armbands. 1
JoeLing Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Better just dish out the bright orange hunting vests at the airport...so there is no mistaking the tourists!! Go on, don't be silly. People would still get murdered. The only way to reduce the murder rate would be remote controlled suicide vests:
sweatalot Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I trust the PM Prayuth. He said something like he will not tolerate incompetent ministers. This one should be the first to be sacked. 1
tutone Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Man, this reeks of George Orwell's book, "1984."
englishoak Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 So the idea is to tag tourists like dogs ? F THAT K ill make this simple....if they try it.... Tourism will be 85% DEAD in a year... forget it... no one I know will agree to be tagged just to come to an average destination like Thailand... utter madness 1
Wat dee Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Immigration giving expats extensions against "buddy" services.
Likener1 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Did she buy her job just as the police buy entry to the force and rank ? Reading the article I thought it was a satire but as she actually seems to be serious I can only wonder if she is actually Cambodian or Vietnamese and been put in place to destroy the Thai tourist industry.
salavan Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 this is the best laugh iv'e had all day thank you
empireboy Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Thailand creativity strikes again.... why don't other countries do this? Maybe cos they know it wouldn't work!? What a gaggle of dunces!!
Popular Post heyexile Posted September 30, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2014 If tourists entering Thailand and get a wristband they will understand fully that they are entering a dangerous country with considerable likelihood to be murdered. But they can rest assured, the wristband will help to identify their dead body - of course it annot protect against murderers, so they understand the priorities in this countrie. BTW My house is for sale It`s OK. The wristbands will be MAGIC AMULETS, suitably blessed (for a small extra charge) so no harm can possibly come to anyone wearing one. BTW Thanks but don`t want to buy your house, already have one there, occupied by hostiles. 3
Popular Post jaideeguy Posted September 30, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2014 How about surgically implanted tracking micro chips upon arrival at the airports.....and a tattooed barcode to identify your body easily? Call it the 'Thai Elite' program. 3
me313 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 This is one step closer to all humans (except privileged few) being implanted with RFID chips. First step is to introduce the inevitable as a safety measure, then slowly implement the technology once everyone sees the importance and necessity of this new protection from rapists and murderers, into the safe and secure arms and ever watchful eye of Big Bro. 2
Lopchan Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 So crims aren't fitted with electronic tags when on parole as a violation of their human rights....but to make an innocent tourist wear one is fine........I am now at a loss for words (some would be happy about that)
mojorison Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I think it's a great idea. It could be offered like a souvenir! There could be a range of styles and colours, and more upmarket ones. (Obviously you'd have to pay more!) They could also introduce necklaces or even vajazzling. Imagine getting your vag tagged or GPS implanted. They could have a range of nipple rings, or the piece de resistance. the GPS enabled Prince Albert for the more discerning male tourist. "Thailand - get on board"!! 1
FangFerang Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 OMG -- this is going to be a 20 page blog fest of carnivorous comments before dawn Wednesday. 1
lvr181 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 How would they read the results if they have their heads up their a**e*? Talk about a ministry of silly walks, is this a ministry of silly thoughts? I cannot believe they would even think of something like this to replace inadequacies of their policing and legal systems. TIT indeed. 1
IAMSOBAD Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Thailand...Hub of totally insane concepts and ideas Here's what you do...CATCH THE BAD PEOPLE AND PUT THEM IN JAIL. Don't punish the good tourists because of some Bad Thais.
piusmann Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Yes it will help to identify you if you are killed or mugged. Nice message. Good Thainess. Headline for the Mail Don't worry the free tags will ID you when you are found dead in Thailand. would like to see the next stats about tourist arrivals - if this is ment to be serious - and gets to the news outside LOS
phuketrichard Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 give the tourists there own island, no thais allowed, they can do what they want 1
IAMSOBAD Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Was this the same clown who painted bicycles in white on the sidewalks of Sukhumvit? So many BAD IDEAS for only 60000000 people.
khunpa Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Why don't they just have all tourist wear a blue hat and shove an ostrich feather up their ass on arrival? 2
lumply Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Is this a wind-up? If not, then it is likely to put the fear of Christ into most tourists who would have wished they were in Majorca instead.
kcirtapyelrah Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 This only shows how desperate they are, they are more concerned about tourism and it's effect on the economy than they are about bringing the perpetrators of this anus crime to justice. Nothing happens in Thailand without the locals knowing about it, they are very inquisitive people, whoever did this was local and was probably in the pub on the night, you don't just find an agricultural hoe conveniently lining around on the beach for some stranger to come along and use to batter someone's brains out with. The Thai police are not so incompetent as they would have you believe, THEY KNOW WHO DID IT, nobody will be charged with murder. 1
Iumentum Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 "Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul said she had approached hotels over the idea of handing out wristbands to help identify tourists that get lost or into trouble." Or make them stand out even more as a target as well as letting assailants know where they are staying and their passport details. Absolute genius. While i don't think wristband is best idea, i actually think it would be a good idea to have something with information that tourist can carry INSTEAD of passport. Both tourist and non-immigrant visitors are required to carry passport, so i rather have someone steal some information than my actual passport.
ttthailand Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 We know the buddy system has its faults, look at Koh Tao for a good example of that. I suggest putting electric collars on Thais and giving tourists remote control activators. That should save a few beatings, rapes and murders.
appleman_thai Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 They will also provide orange jumpsuits on arrival {for a special price, of course).
