Sorry, never had time to wade through all the posts. I find it truly AMAZING they can just pick suitable candidates to take the rap for these heinous crimes to keep the tourists flowing in and quieten the uproar save the Thais face..... This is a despicable/disgusting - monstrous way for any country to act using poor migrants to avoid the truth at the mercy of others who have no hope in hell of being saved by their own government.

Its an injustice at the Top level and a crime against humanity .............

Agreed and that is why this case should be a truly international rather than a domestic issue.

This report doesn't say very much really,, just that they are detained for DNA tests.

Like everyone else I am getting frustrated reading page after page, day after day of what seems to be rubbish spouted by officials. I think it will be more then difficult to cover this up, people are all over this and the world is watching closely.

I would have thought that if the 3 migrant workers did do it then surely they would have scarpered back to Burma by now with all the pressure to catch them and the talk of DNA profiling half the world.. Still, I guess we will have to wait until the next instalment in this farce.

I can only imagine how terrible it must be for the family and friends reading all this nonsense whilst grieving for their loved ones..

detained for dna tests! ...when are they going to detain the entitled sons of village headmen for a dna test??

Allegedly a human rights violation to make well connected families undertake DNA screening. If you are Burmese or a less affluent Thai it is not. The hypocrisy is this case is to be believed. When the world is watching, to choose this obvious path at this point, seems ridiculous. There was a chance to offer us something different this time. Appears the attention has merely slowed the progress of a predetermined path. Utter disbelief.

So this will be some Burmese scapegoats who will disappear into the Thai prison system and then be repatriated, 20,000 baht each and the remainder of the bribe money will go into the pockets of police and government officials.

nation rpting one has confessed already.

Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Somyos Pumphanmuang is leaving Bangkok for Koh Tao at 5 pm Thursday after a Myanmar worker "confessed" he killed two British tourists on the island.
Somyos will hold a press conference to announce the breakthrough of the case Friday.

The Nation

I only wish I could believe that the 'confession' is genuine - and what about his joint killers? And why didn't he flee the island, and why wasn't he DNA tested initially? And - oh sod it - it's just too convenient to be believable.

The one thing that really puzzles me about this is, when this mon guy offered a million baht to the police if they could prove that his son was guilty, or should i say innocent., why didn't he say at the time that his son was in Bangkok when the murders took place. Nothing was mentioned of this until about 2 or 3 days later. And the police have not made public the so called cctv evidence showing his son in Bangkok. And didn't i read somewhere that the son was known to have left the island on the first boat the morning after the murders.

Yes, yes, yes and yes. All valid points that the police do not appear to have addressed. Probably never will.

No No and Not sure.

It wasn't Mon offering a Mil,

It wasn't Mon's son in Bkk

I don't know who's son was supposed to have left in the morning.

You need to keep up with what has been said and done if you are going to post stuff about the case.

I would still like them to take DNA from anyone in the chief's family IE Mon's son the chiefs son the chief himself or Mon. It has been reported that Mon and the Chief gave samples but not completely verified. DNA from any one of them would give a family code (or not???) can anyone verify.

It's not beyond belief that migrant workers did this but I will only believe it if the evidence is paraded for the world to see and CHECK.

NO PATSY's

Here we go....."fitting them up"....beat the living <deleted> out of them until they confess (another word for RTP torture)...this investigation is an absolute disgrace...shocking......switching every 2 hours to different "suspects".....changing every 1 hour to statements like.... "we are close to making an arrest"

So what's happened to the 1 prime suspect in the CCTV footage wearing those shorts....has he morphed into 3 people now.........

Just reading all this <deleted> gets your back-up. It stinks to high heaven and should be dealt with internationally since, this circus act is a total embarrassment for Thailand and will dig themselves into a lot of contention from the west and afar .....

If these guys are found guilty I would hope the British Government takes DNA samples from each of them and compare it with their own samples (assuming they took their own samples in England). The only way to get any piece of mind knowing they got the right rapists and murders.

So I would assume whoever is charged would face the death penalty after the verdict on the Thai train rapist a few days ago...

Thats a serious consequence for a " pasty "..

Serious for Thailand too, state sponsored murder

Wow that could cause some international incident, it would be one hell of a risk for the general.

Post Today is reporting that three men have been arrested in connection with the murders of the two British tourists on Koh Tao, one Thai and two from Myanmar.

The Thai has apparently confessed that he carried out the murders and the other two are said to have knowledge of the crime. DNA samples have been taken from all three.

Becoming a little more believable just make the DNA match public

So, as far as the story goes on the latest updates... these 3 migrant workers where involved in the execution of Hannah & David and the confrontation with the Thai men was all forgotten because Thais are well known for being so forgiving ... excuse me while I pause for bated breath ..........

And the new man appointed to oversee the investigation - a young guy who actually looks like he could do an honest shift without taking any B/S, could prove to be just what this needs

They are trying to shift it to migrant workers now and the explanation because they were buying something from a store.

Watch this space we are going to hear all the BS in the world.

Well, what if the murderers were migrant workers? Should they not investigate migrant workers because some foreigners have knee-jerk reactions claiming that the police want to frame them?

They've already investigated some Thais and foreigners too.

Thais have been convicted many times in the past of killing foreigners, so it is illogical to think they will not convict a Thai person if he (or they) are guilty.

They should check everywhere the leads take them.

you can trust any evidence only as much as you can trust the people who collect, preserve and process the evidence. I would not trust ANY of these guys who put their hands on that!

The problem will most likely be that the evidence has been (possibly deliberately) so much messed and tempered with (and/or not secured in the first place) that by now you probably can "photoshop" whatever "proof" you fancy based on these "results" and that the truth may never come out...

Let's see if "hard fact" evidence which actually CAN still be objectively evaluated by a third party will still be around when the time comes... I very much doubt it...
