Calm yourself. Thailand is not an island. Whatever you might wish to believe, they are mindful that the world is watching. Tourism is already down, for a myriad of reasons. Attempting to crack down on the free speech of potential customers/investors will do them no favours. Whilst they can take measures against their domestic population, doing so publicly against foreign nationals, only brings negative results...as they are slowly discovering. What might have worked in the past against their domestic population, won't wash with their 'guests'. Their guests will simply take their leave and not return. Their stream of quality tourists will evaporate.

Stupid comments about girls wearing bikinis don't help. The perfect way to scare your potential clients and their families. PM, remember that we are your guests. Is this the way to treat your guests? Strangely enough it would seem, many thousands of ex-patriots call Thailand home and are extremely happy to do so.

As there was no previous comment made giving support to the current military administration one has to wonder your motives for raising it. As for Thailand having had its day and being "DEAD", I guess we won't miss you when you leave.

Actually if you want to live happily and safely in Thailand just follow a few simple and logical rules.

1. Honour the King

2.Obey all local laws and respect Thai customs and culture

3. If your ride a motorbike always wear a helmet.

4.If you drive a car wear a seatbelt

5.If you have more than one partner wear a condom

6.Don't do silly things in dangerous places (ie. end up on a deserted beach late at night , drunk, stoned and vulnerable to assault or attack from

anyone

7.Exercise caution , self protection and awareness wherever you are at all times

8.Don't fraternize with illegal or dangerous substances and try not to advertise yourself as a moving target

9. Try to treat everyone else there as you would like to be treated , equally fair and with full respect

It depends entirely on whether they committed the crime or not.

They certainly haven't had their day in court so no one has found them guilty so it is pure speculation or wishful thinking on the part of the police. The whole affair is making the police and Thailand in general look very foolish, amatuerish and corrupt to it's very heart.

This has the smell of scapegoating and cover up I feel very sorry for the two in detention and their families. Their chances of a fair trail are looking very remote. I dread to recieve the next news update on this appalling investigation saga..

If he had been put under pressure to make this happen and wanted no part of it or more importantly didn't want the blame falling on him. Then making an announcement like this was (perhaps)the smartest thing he could do, it not only highlights what was being geared up to happen, it takes him off the hook, but more importantly, although not necessarily the motive behind his actions, could end up in saving the boys. With all of the publicity and media involvement in this case this may be the only protection they have.

Politically he could have played the game quite successfully, even protecting himself to some degree.

Thanks, I just figured he is only in charge of the prison, it makes no difference to him if they actually go to court. However people it may affect may well be putting the pressure on. What would you do in his position.....
