I've seen them, even though I was not looking, at Central Food Hall, and at Makro on the superhighway. I haven't checked prices, although I'm almost certain that Makro will be cheaper per kilo.

Hi Gonzo

I always found Northern Farms to be the best value for money for butterball at Christmas. Not sure about this time of year.

Must have been some mutant brand....... as I have never eaten, nor do I think I would like to eat a turkey with the liver and heart on the outside.! ! !

Gets in the way of the feathers....

Just kiddin mb....... that's primarily why I do not look for the other brands as I have found over many many years that I have trust in Butterball brand.

P.S. Anyone recall or care to mention the price per Kilo ?

I sure hope meatboy isn't suggesting you serve goose for Thanksgiving Dinner!

Last Turkey Day I got a turkey from a local guy who said he raises turkeys on his farm, paid 2x Marko price and though it was good I think it was just a Makro bird (Norbest?) as it had the giblets, liver etc. packed inside the cavity in a sealed wax lined baggie as many other suspect signs. He even gave me this long story of how he had to go to the hospital from swallowing a feather during the kill, all quite unbelievable if you where there. So be wary of turkey farmers too! (or at least don't purchase unless they let you p/u at farm). It's a shame I was a frequent customer of his rather expensive French restaurant and for a quick buck and he lost all my business forever.

Good luck Gonzo as I'm planning on letting you do the cooking this year and will be coming into your fine establishment with my family and friends!

my mum would say,"whatever's on the table eat it or go without".

beware of turkey farmers that sell makro birds.they come sealed in a wax baggie with the giblets packed inside the cavity.

who also owns a french restaurant, sells french frogs that speak thai, and he double's prices for farangs.cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif
