swiss air schedule change

Featured Replies

Hello all,

looking for some advice from fellow thai travellers, ok what happend was i booked an holiday to Phuket for dec 13th, this was back in beginning of march also this was booked with expedia uk, i chose good flights of which i paid extra for as very good times eg no waiting around, so i recieved an email saying swiss air had changed their schedules, so now i cant make the zurich flight out to phuket , so now have to go with finnish airline to helsinki with 5hrs waiting in airport, coming home instead of flying home at 09.00 i have to fly out of phuket 05.30 effectively ruinning my last night of holiday with a 5 hr wait in zurich before flying into manchester, now i have come to terms with the flight arrangements but very unhappy at them changing them at such a late stage, but because i paid extra for those original flights i think it warrants some compensation, as i think it was in the region of £150 extra, just wanted to know if anyone had any experience like this, all input would be appreciated, i have contacted both expedia and swiss airlines with no joy what so ever yet Grrrrr. hope i have explained it clear enough.

schedule changes are annoying but common everywhere in the aviation industry and all they will do is put you on another flight with a partner airline.

I don't think you have any chance to get a compensation, they only thing they will have to accept is that you cancel the flight and get your money back

Cheers Siam2007, yes i think your right , already have flights with finn air, swiss flying back, yes very annoying because i paid more for my original flights, no waiting around, good times, .

cheers for your response.

SWISS has never flown out of Phuket before. SWISS only flies out of Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi. Maybe you mean Edelweiss, which is a charter airline and partially owned by Swiss? However, they are not the same airline.

Flight changes like the OP's are just part of the entire, world-wide industry's descent into airline travel 'Hell'.

My last trip to Thailand on China Southern Airlines had three flight changes. I could have booked the crap flights I ended up with for much less than I paid (they don't offer a refund unless you outright cancel)... and to add insult to injury, one of the flights they changed me to was not eligible for FF miles.

It's like you order a Bugatti but the dealership delivers a Volkswagen and says "Take it... or we'll give you your money back".

Seems an easy choice: money book and book yourself elsewhere.

Except... the changes almost always occur when any decent alternatives have skyrocketed in price.
