Wanted Malaysian luxury car thief found shot dead in Thailand

NARATHIWAT: -- A Malaysian, suspected of being a luxury car thief, was found shot dead at a rubber plantation in the southern province of Narathiwat, Thailand on Thursday.

Sukri Ismail, 50, who was high on the Malaysian police wanted list for smuggling stolen luxury cars into Thailand, sustained gunshot wounds in the head and back.

Nicknamed 'Mat Yei Kudung', he was from Kampung Laloh, Kuala Krai, Kelantan.

Initial police investigations have revealed Sukri was involved in a scuffle before he was gunned down.

There were vehicle tyre marks at the scene where his body, clad in a pair of jeans and polo shirt was found.

The incident, believed to have occurred just before 10am, was confirmed by the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok.

Narathiwat's Rusak district police officer, Captain Monteri Janmuang said Sukri was believed to have been taken to the spot by two to three men before he was killed.

"He had tried to fight them off, in a bid to escape but failed. We are investigating whether the killing was linked to separatist groups or was a personal matters," he said.

He said the Thai police had alerted the Malaysian consulate in Songkhla on the matter, adding that a report was received from Kampong Bangol Laweng's assistant headman in Mukim Batong, Annuar Cheknae, on the incident.

They definitely were afraid he would rat them out since authorities were looking for him. They knew if they killed him he couldn't out them, and since Thai police rarely solve murders they were safe. No need for police to arrest a Burmese scapegoats either.

Yeah, right, linked to separatist groups.

This is more likely to be all about money, greed and criminal activity.

Though so are a number of the 'separatist groups', so in a way..........

The BIB must have done a great scene of crime job as they seem to know what happened and how many may have been involved.

Of course there's a couple of OR's that could be added to that sentence.

Another who has found out that good friends are hard to find, this is the classic threat for silence that emanates from stand over gangsters, in a business controlled by the wealthy, over time plenty have woken up dead or even disappeared in Thailand, the darker side that TAT doesn't want tourists to hear about. bah.gif

.

If this is linked to the major smuggling ring involving very influential people as announced by the DSI how many more will die a la Mr. T's war on drugs when all those nasty dealers started killing each other to avoid being grassed up ?

Gunshot to the head and back is a clear sign of apperant suicide.

Only if they jump from the fifth or higher floor after shooting themselves - this looks more like an accident running into the path of speeding bullets. After all - if shot in the back he could not have known the were coming and would have otherwise just moved out of the way.
