Hi eveyone. I have recently gotten a non immigrant ED visa in August. Yesterday I lost my passport while I was out for the day. I checked everwhere and asked around security desks and receptions if anyone had handed it in. I am on the way to file a police report for lost passport and will to give the report to my embassy.

Once I have an emergancy passport or document from my embassy, Will immigration be able to transfer my non immigrant O to it??? I am worried will I lose my ED visa? I didnt take any pictures of my departure card or last stamp. Does immigration have that info on file? I am due to extend my visa in 20 days from today at immigration. Is that enough time and will i be able to stay? I am worried! Does anyone know or been in this situation? I am from Chile. Any help would be kindly appreciated.

Be sure you keep a copy of the police report you will need it for immigration.

If your embassy can issue a emergency travel document immigration will be able to check their records and be able to stamp your entry in it and then you can get the extension.

Edit: Since you had a single entry visa it is unimportant now. You have already gotten the entry from it.

Thanks so much Ubonjoe. So I won't lose the Non Ed visa???

Your single entry ED-visa was used when you entered the kingdom.

Your permission of stay will be recorded in the computers.

You must leave when your 90 days are up.

I do not think you can extend at immigrations without the actual visa as visas are issued by MFA and not immigrations.

They will have record that he entered on a an ED visa. Not sure but they may even note the visa number on entry.

They should be able to extend his permit to stay based upon what they have in their records. It would be better if he had a copy of his visa. But the school may have one.

I don't have any helpful advice (I think it's been provided by others)…but I have one question. How can anyone NOT keep copies of their passport and current visas, entry permits, etc.????

Your hotel did make o photocopy when you checked in, right ... if you are lucky they still have it. The have to register and report that you stay there.

And when you do get your new papers, use your phone/camera and then send the copy by mail to your own account!

One thing that all passport holders might want to do is email to themselves a copy of their passport personal details page, visa details page and last entry stamp.

Just in case............................

Smart advice. Even easier.....just take photos of the important pages with your phone and/or camera as that'll make it so much easier to get it replaced, deal with officials in the interim, etc.

Thanks everyone who gave info. I was worried I will lose my non immigrant Ed visa because of this and would have to go back on a tourist visa or excempt.. I will notify my school and hopefully they will have a copy of my visa and last entry. Thanks again!

The 1st thing I do when I get A new passport is scan it in my computer. Then make several copies of it.Also email A copy to myself.

Um I never have it on me unless I'm traveling. If the thai government isn't happy about that then they can do whatever they want

With me.Good luck. It'll get straightened out as long as you do what these post have said.

Force of habit for me me I scan all pages and visa in passport to computer then send copy to memory stick which I have in safe fireproof place if I ever need it a pain but worth piece of mind.
