i have problem with my thyroid gland and i need T3. Before i took always cytomel (Liothyronine Sodium) but in thailand they only salle T4 like Eutyhtyrox 100 (Levothyroxine Sodium) or Eltroxin.

Does anyone know whats the name of a product here in thailand which has T4 (Liothyronine Sodium) inside.

Not sure what you want - Brand name? I take "EuthyROX" 50mcg tablet from hospital pharmacy each day. This is made by Merck KGaA in Darmstadt, Germany and sold in 25 count foil packets.

Tiromel's active ingredient is triiodothyronine.

There are available drugs which include levothyroxine sodium which is converted by the body into triiodothyronine and should be suitable alternatives. The brands are Thyrosit (Sriprasit Pharma) and Thyroxine-Lam Thong (Lam Thong).

You'd need to take expert advice on what dose to take.

In Australia I was on 75 micro grams a day, but as one cannot get 75 micro gram tablets here, I alternate 50 and 100 microgram tablets.

I take Euthyrox (Levothyroxine sodium) made by Merck KGaA, Germany. 25 tablets in a strip, 4 strips in a box. I think the cost was about 100 Baht per box.

These were purchased by a friend in Bangkok, at a pharmacy close to one of the large Thai government hospitals; but I have since found them at a couple of Thai pharmacies in Hua Hin.

I have had two thyroid function tests done here while using this medication, and my levels are basically the same as they were in Australia.

Unless there is something wrong with the pituitary's ability to convert T4 to T3 (which normally in Hashimoto's there is not), T4 should be fine. Most of the body's T3 comes from conversion from T4.

There is no T3 available in Thailand.

There is thyroid extract, containing both T3 and T4 but it is extracted from pig thyroid and the ration of T3:T4 is excessive for human beings.

Possible that some of the larger hospitals have liothyronine even though there is no registered brand of it in Thailand. Or, a good endocrinologiost might be able to guide you re use of thyroid extract.

So you take 50 micrograms one day, then 100 micrograms the next day, and so on? Why don't you simply split the pills in half (you can probably obtain a pill-splitter at a pharmacy) and take the exact dosage every day (50 + 25 = 75 micrograms). If you're not able to get a pill-splitter, a knife and cutting board works well too. Sorry if this is what you meant to say in the first place. Otherwise, don't see why it would be desirable to vary your dosage 50% each day. Surely better to maintain a more constant dosage, no?

I just split the pills. The 100 microgram ones come already ready to split by hand in four parts! Don't even need a cutter. So you can take any dose easily that is a multiple of .25 microgram.

Ok ... to help me remember, with my ageing memory ... I take the 50 micrograms tablet on odd numbered days and 100 micrograms tablet on even numbered days ,,, taking 50 micrograms on consective days, the 1st and 31st of the month, has not killed me yet.

The tablets are rather small and difficult to evenly divide, thus I have not tried.

Thus, I asked my long-time GP in Australia if it was ok to alternate my daily dosage with 50/100 micro gram tablets. He informed me that this is what doctors in Australia used to advise prior to the 75 microgram tablets becoming available.

As indicated earlier, I have had my levels tested twice, at a 6 month interval, since I have bene following this regime, and my levels are as they were in Australia when I was on 75 microgram tablets.

I have been using the 100 microgram pills for years and find it incredibly easy to create a .75 dose with them by hand as they are sold already ready to split into quarters. I don't understand why that would be a problem for anyone. If I can do it, I'm confident anyone without paralyzed hands can do it, because generally I can't engineer myself out of a paper bag to save my life!

I use Diotroxin 90%T4 and 10%T3 also have Hasimoto and a problem converting T4 to T3 took me two years to figure this out on my own take 20ug/day and feel good. This is in South Africa so not much use to you in Thailand but I appreciate the warning and will take ample supply with me if I go to Thailand. Please post if and where to procure T4/T3 mixtures in Thailand.

I have hachitmotos and take 100 g of levothorax a day.if you haven't had a recent ( every six months) TSA blood examen have one and then go to any hospital to get them to prescribe you the equivalent or generic. Very important to check your blood every 6 months as the level s can change.

I believe you mean TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) blood test.

When on holiday, in Canada, a few years ago, my doctor tested and diagnosed me with T3 and T4 associated with hypothyroidism. Now must take medication for rest of life, which is normal procedure. In Thailand, I buy and use Euthyrox 50 (Levothyroxine sodium) from MERCK. Works great and is for T3 and T4 and can be purchased at just about any pharmacist i Thailand. Much cheaper that buying from a hospital. As mentioned elsewhere, 100 tablets for 90-100 baht. Every time I return to Canada, as I must for pension reasons, I bring back 2-300 hundred to keep me going until my next winter trip to BKK.
