So in order to get the rebate you would have to have bought a car or truck that was 1.5 or smaller engine is that correct? We bought a 2014 Subaru 2.0, so I guess that means we won't be getting any rebates. If we had known they were going to tax us 15,000 US more than the car sells for we would had bought a used one outside the country. Stupid Huh. What a Rip off that was.

It was a 2012 scheme: max 1.5 liter or pickup and max 1 mio Baht sales price for Thai people buying a car for the 1st time.

buying a used one outside the country would have made for an interesting read. Well it would have been very interesting to read just how much you had to pay (over the price that you had paid) once you brought it into the country.

It seems you were smart enough not to attempt that nonsensical route.

Actually it was for Thai individuals registering a car in their name for the first time.

I know a number of people that had never had a car registered in their own name, as it had always been in a company name until now. People well

their 60's now registering a new car for the first time.

Also know of someone that has a fleet of the new cars registered under their staff names in order to take advantage of the rebate and have all new cars for daily hire at their resort.

Perhaps the most bizarrely mindless scheme ever invented, whereby those who can afford at least most of a car get heavily subsidized from taxes taken from the pool which includes those who can't afford a car.

Add the additionally crowded roads and added use of gas and it's a hat trick of stupidity.

Yes, which is what I said, so why try to correct?

Buying for first time is not quite the same as registering a car for the 1st time. These individuals had bought many cars in the past, but never registered in their own name.

remember by having a vehicle registered under your own name you the registered owner is responsible for anything that happens to that vehicle. This is regardless of whether or not you paid for it or are driving it at tje time of something serious happening. Hence many people never had registered vehicles in their own name

Nitpicking like that does not deserve more of a reaction than this one.
