There are many lovely, honest girls with integrity looking for good guys where I am in BKK.

Date girls who have a job and a hobby. Date girls in your general age range. Date girls not "out of your league" in attractiveness. Date girls who you can connect with socially (learn thai, share hobbies / interests / personalities) etc

You can't just say "oh you will find X girl here" as it is all subjective. My experiences and options as a young and confident western man in Bangkok is not going to mirror those of the aging retiree.

Problem is a lot of older guys live in delusions of reality. They get a bit of attention from some poor girls or hit the bars and suddenly think they can play above their station with a girl "who doesn't want money"

and paying them to pretend they like you

maybe you should break it down a little more

try taking any Thai girl, or any girl anywhere for dinner and drinks, and then expect her to pay for herself, and you will soon have,

girls in their 30's are in oversupply in Thailand, so they look to us as good alterntives, not the best alternatives, but better than what they have already had, or they wouldnt look at us, no matter what is in the wallet,

if its a pretty girl and she has her own life before you,

you need to stack up and not be cheap about it because, they want love, they want babies and if they are pretty,

there will always be another guy trying to get her,

pretty girls in their 20's that aren't bar girls, are rarely interested in white men, because they want a normal life in Thailand, and aren't interest in guys older than their fathers,

Pretty true. If you've been in-country for awhile, you have a better understanding of how things really are. The OP is still under the illusion that he could have any girl he wants just by flashing his wallet and being a farang. But that only attracts a certain type of girl, i.e., those only interested in his money. And he acts all surprised? If the OP were to start dating girls "in his league," he would have a much better chance of finding true love. If he wants to date a girl out-of-his-league, assuming they're even interested, he's going to have to pay up.

I think the generally accepted TV route to meet a nice Thai girl is as follows:-

Be the pivotal and popular employee of a multi national company in your own country and then reluctantly allow yourself to be deployed to Thailand on the same package but with the addition of a humongous hardship payment on top. In your first week in the new job, you get your head down and work hard, you definitely, definitely do not go to any bars. Amazingly, by the end of the first week you meet and fall in love with a hi-so Chinese-Thai via a mutual interest such a visiting temples or tending to injured elephants. She will almost certainly be a head of department if not the owner of a vast, sprawling international company. She will naturally, be younger than you, but not to an embarrassing degree. Despite being chaperoned on all dates, where she pays for everything, you marry after a suitable period of courtship - say a couple of months.

You then live together away from the disgusting tourists. You celebrate your thai-than-thainess on a daily basis, but still manage to retain links to your fellow farang, albeit at a safe distance behind a keyboard.

You are then free to metaphorically shake your head in wonder about seedy hell holes such as Pattaya, questioning their inhabitants and morality whilst constantly wondering why the Thai authorities continue to allow such places to exist. You find a new hobby in discussing Thai politics and find that you are equally adept at solving tricky suspicious deaths reported in the press. You are also free to advise on all aspects of bar girl recognition, despite never having met one. In addition, scouring the TV forums with a fervour appropriate to a religious fundamentalist, you are also able to help and support others by regularly posting "for the millionth time, it's not a retirement visa".

And that is basically how you do it.

One last thing, do not bother to even try if you are over 30, overweight or don't have a body that would shame Adonis. If you don't meet this criteria, just be grateful for what you get.
