I do not know about the beef show at Pattaya, but if it is like the annual dairy show at Mortlec ,Salaburi, it is OK but do not expect the same standard of cattle you would get at one of our cattle shows.

At Pattaya it is the home of SK farm ,they have some very nice cattle ,especially the red Brahman's,all original from USA stock, been going for some years, now doing all they own breeding ,they will be there for certain + other breeds, and plenty of cattle related equipment.

For a day out it would be OK plenty of other things to look at ,to keep the none cattle people happy.

TV's Andy Crosby has wrote some posts about it before .

If you are thinking of buying some cattle, better take a very large wedge with you ,beef and dairy cattle prices are high at the moment, last month we sold a Angus X dairy/ beef, bull 15 month old nice animal about 300 KG ,for 48,000 Bart,to a local cattle buyer .Guy near me brought a red Indo Brazil cross heifer(a long eared thing) in calf, nice heifer, 60,000 Bart.

For me it would be a good day out being cattle minded ,worth getting up at 04.00am for ,doing it the Thai way.

Yours Regs.

Well here goes,a Kampangsan should be 60-65 % Charolais,and 35- 40% Brahman.

A Brangus ,would be 50% Angus and 50% Brahman.

A cross of them would be..... about about 30% Charolais 20% Angus and about 50% Brahman.

As for a Bradford , Hereford x Brahman, can not say I have seen any in Thailand, reading some papers from Australia the white face cattle seem to be more prone to eye problems, ie New Forest eye, than other breeds,we had a Simmental x Friesian cow, white face ,use to have watery eyes a lot.

If I may ask why do you want to cross the Kampangsan ,with a Brangus seems odd,I would stick with the original breeds,it can be done ,probably produce a black

calf, if it was a heifer, put an Angus bull on it ,would be about 75 % Angus, the maximum limit regarding heat stress, and tick resistance, would grow well.

That would make your neighbors look twice trying to work what the breed it is,our first Angus bull , Thais said what breed I said Angus ,most have never heard of an Angus.

We have had Charolais and Angus, x cattle, on our system the Angus does seem to do better.

Now we have a Charolais bull, mum is the daughter of the above Sim x Fr ,we put a Brahman x Indo Brazil on her,so the Charolais bull is 12,50%% Sim 12.50% Fr 12.50% Bra 12.50% Indo, and 50% Ch and he suffers from heat stress ,first one we have had that suffers from heat stress, semen came from the Thai DLD,, last years calf was an Angus, easy to rear ,no problems.

Hi

Braford cattle are available in Thailand. We have 3 Braford cattle, 1 bull, and 2 cows, between 14 -16 months old. Plan to breed. Nice looking animals. We bought them from a cattle ranch in Nongbaulamphue, though not cheap to purchase. The Bull has certified papers, and its sire was from Australia.

I am glad you have got some Braford cattle, something a bit different from the run of the mill Brahman/Indo Brazil ,cattle.

You said they were not cheap ,a lot is to do with the Thai cattle market cattle prices are dear, and have been for some time, dairy and beef, my neighbour pay 60 000 baht for a Friesian heifer 7 months in calf, well dear( part of the reason it was 3 year old +, a big animal that has had an infertility problem).

Last September we sold an Angus x ,15 months old 38 000 baht.

If in the future you want some Braford semen, try pornchaiinter.com,they sell beef semen,I seem to remember they have had some Braford semen.they are in Ratchaburi, south of bkk.

If you can find some fly tags ( would have to import them never seen them in LOS),it would help control the flies, help lessen the eye problems.

Post some photos in TV's photo forum, would be nice to see ,make a change from ducks and chickens smile.png .

All the best.
