I recently had car finance approved and picked up the car. I had numerous documents put in front of me and signed them - all in thai. Some were translated but one question I have is what happens if I pass on. What happens to the car. Do they repossess immediately or what exactly happens with the outstanding debt. The wife signed as guarantor and thus I presume she inherits the debt. Is this correct?

The logical answer that someone might suggest is read the contract. I dont have one to read and if I did it would be in thai language

thanks

When we bought our truck from Toyota, the finance was in my Thai wife's name. Toyota insisted in that we took insurance on her, so that the loan would be paid off if she dies. It's not that expensive and is included in the payments.

Maybe you should check if this also applies in your case.

Edit...what do you mean you don't have a contract? Every bank or manufacturers dealer will issue a contract when giving finance. Even if it's in Thai, it's not difficult to work out what the financials details are.
