What's The Best Way To Finally Get Rid Off The TH 5555 Virus?

Featured Replies

Hello and G'Day,

I have to apologize as this must have been a topic for years now. I've tried almost all Antivirus/ Malware detecting software. Deleted the browsing history of Google on my PC, but still got this 555 freaking virus on my machine.

I could only make it happen that it disappeared for a few days. I'd deeply appreciate to find out if there's a program that permanently deletes that 555 virus.

Thanks a lot in advance for any useful tips. facepalm.gif

I only have symptoms of that virus on this forum. Sometimes posts I read have 555 in them. tongue.png

Would this work to get rid of it?

Thanks, dude. But that's not the right way to remove that shit. once you download it, you'll get other -unwanted- stuff as well.

The one time I saw it I just went to Programs under the control panel and found 555 there and just uninstalled it and that was it. Might do it in safe mode to be sure it isn't resident.

Download ADW cleaner that removes all the shit

Regards Cees

+1 to ADW cleaner, the girlfriend has this on her laptop, did a google search and found an old thaivisa thread recommending ADW cleaner or UnHackMe

Malwarebytes is not enough for the 555 browser hacker but a good program to run anyway to clean other stuff up

Thanks a lot. I've tried almost all programs, but it always came back. It's obvious that it came from a Thai website, as our son's always playing some weird online games.

But now he's got his own PC and he doesn't have that problem. Will try UNHackMe.....and keep you up to date...

Cheers-

Or otherwise try the restore point,, it's always good to keep it up to date and restore point your computer every month although it creates a restore point every time you install software then when you turn you restore point back that software / malware will be deleted, read up on it first though.

take it to pantip let them do it but transfer all your porno to memory stick first then delete from PC.

I used the http://malwaretips.com/blogs/555-in-th-removal/ method to remove it without issue.

I have had TH555 on my computer for a long time. It does seem to do anything. I have tried a couple of programmes to remove it but they did not work. I have just used ADW cleaner and it seems to have removed it. It deleted a folder called WebNavi. I hope it does not return.

Have used the free version of AVG for years. Its so good, we used it on our company computers also. Best free antivirus you can get.

I just Googled TH555, sounds nasty. Reminds me of the time I downloaded something and ended up with Ask search on my computer. Tried all sorts of stuff to get rid of that, ended up having to go deep into the registry to remove all traces of it. Have to be careful when poking around in there though.

Take back up of your programs and documents, music, video etc. Format your hard disk and reinstall all your programs again. Make sure to install a good anti virus like McAfee Internet Security.

Is it possible that you drank a strange brew before posting?

I have Superantispyware, malware bytes, Kaspersky 2015, AVG 2015 and many others, but none of them could get rid off it.

I guess so, he should have known that they don't make memory sticks of that size yet. biggrin.png

I haven't had it, but google says it runs as a service. I would go to the start prompt and type in:

msconfig

then click the Services tab, find it, uncheck it, click Apply, then OK, then reboot.

Then I would uninstall it with CCleaner, reboot, and run CCleaner to clean the registry.

Might work.

I got the virus after downloading SUMo (software update monitor) using the exe installer, but now only use the zip file of SUMo on updates and no more viruses.

<script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

One of the big problems with this TH 555.in.th is that it is not a virus, not really classified as malware and could just possibly be classed as adware.

It is primarily a browser hijacker, and yes, it is a bitch to get rid off as it will change security settings in your browser(s). Another thing about it is that it is not self installing, ie, it needs the user's permission to install. Be very careful when you are installing programmes of any kind as some of them, especially freeware, will have 'bundles' checked by default to install.

As has been mentioned, the following link probably contains the clearest instructions to get rid of it. I would also do this in 'Safe' mode if at all possible.

You do realize AVG is only free for personal use? Business users must purchase a license?

If it keeps coming back it is most likely that someone keeps reinstalling the broken program or game that includes it.

Has anyone tried "Windows Malicious Software removal tool"? if it is updated (I get an update almost daily) it maybe can do the trick?

Completely agree, the free version is better than some commercial programs, except its not so good with spyware.

It's completely &lt;deleted&gt;! All these Anti virus programs, even the good paid ones don't see many Trojans, virusess, malware and adware.

Why is that? Because people create viruses and Trojan horses.

Please download a free 30 day version of Kaspersky Anti virus 2015, let it run on your machine and you'll truly be surprised what others didn't find.facepalm.gif
