VISIT TO KOH SAMET

Koh Samet is approximately 7 km away from the Ban Phe shore.

It takes appr. 30 minutes to get there by boat.

Most of the beaches are on the East side, only Ao Prao Beach is on the West side, facing the mainland.

In 1981 the archipelago of Samet,the headland of Khao Laem Ya and parts of Mae Rampueng Beach were declared as a National Park which included all the islands i.e. Ko Kudi,Ko Kruai etc.

Each of these islands has it’s own uniqueness which visitors should not miss.

Located 230km south east of Bangkok and 80km from Pattaya in Rayong Province , it is easy to be reached by car and buses, there4 it is very popular with Bangkokians and travelers .

Most come to relax and enjoy the beaches , but for the more adventurous the island has some activities to offer which includes hiking on trails , reef exploring ,kayaking.

Samet island compromises of 18 hidden bays ,which offer crystal clear waters around the year.

From the various piers in Ban Phe you can take a boat from 08.00am to 06.00pm to Na Daan Pier , duration of the trip is a30-35 minutes omly.

As it is a National Park you , most likely, will be charged THB 200.- entrance fee .

There are also boats directly from Ban Phe to Ao Wong Duen and you can even hire a speedboat if you wish to arrive in style.

Transportation on the island is done by “song theow”taxi’s which are using the few unpaved roads or you can hike across the island or along the coastline.

Evenings can be relaxing , dinner at the beach or you can “enjoy” loud music from the bar’s which have opened up over the last years.

One of the main problem is still garbage collection and disposal.
