Pib
Yeap, cash is what you get when you go to the BACC to get your subsidy....walk away with cash in hand to buy stuff or deposit it in your bank account...up to you.
KhunBENQ
They don't. Just a ridicolous publicity stunt (see the "happy farmer"). At least here people have to pick up the money from BAAC (Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives) at the ATM. As far as I know BAAC opens accounts for farmers free of fees (no sure though).

Fat Haggis
Some farmers have been told according to one who posts here they will not get their money till next year for last years crops. Still a long way to go before all rhe farmers receive their money, but it's slowly getting there ?
rasmus5150
There is going to be some great parties in Isaan over the weekend. My guess is that with all this money they will switch the old "lao khao" with Johnnie Walker Black Label - and the money will be gone before New Year. glasswort
Not exactly a huge amount of money when considered on an individual basis but enough for a good blow out.
rickirs
This payout is in addition to the rice pledge payout, Junta subsidies on farming costs, and probably not the last of further Junta subsidies to keep farmers happy. The Junta may well come to understand what the PTP understood - the political force of farmers. Buy their loyalty, buy their vote.
DonaldBattles
What about the non rice farming folks. They work just as hard and did not get a mention. Free money will have to impact people who worked hard to pay their taxes.
RickBradford
Bloke next door got his cash yesterday, and today a vasty combine harvester has turned up to cut his rice. In previous years, the job has been done by a squad of old biddies with an inexhaustible supply of stamina and laughter. It would take them 3 days; the combine did it in 2 hours. Progress, I suppose, but a bit sad.

Chris Lawrence
No one around us in Phetchabun has received any of this money yet, and all inquires are answered with a "I don't know when"... But......hope everyone is still happy Bill, in line with El Presidente decree. Maybe they should do a poll up your way to gauge the level of happiness, rather than community leaders around the Bangkok area?
VINCENT2012
The subsidy scheme is aimed to assist farmers with low income to cope with high cost of living. still this will never resolve the problem or give a better life to the farmers.....the price of the rice should be calculated in fonction of the cost to produce it plus a percentage for the farmer. this year i buy rice 10 baths a kilo,it is not worth producing it.
