Buying cigarettes - in Duty Free, BKK or Abu Dhabi

Are cigarettes much cheaper in BKK Duty Free than in BKK?

Do they come with the sickness photos on them that are on Thai packets?

Anyone know the cost of cartons in Abu Dhabi Duty Free?

Thanks for the info....

Ciggies are about the only thing that is cheap in Thailands grossly corrupt duty free business: King Power lost their monopoly franchise a couple of years ago but then paid off the right people and were reinstated. They may be slightly cheaper than Abu Dhabi duty free, but at least in Abu Dhabi Duty Free you don't run the risk of being 'arrested' for 'shoplifting' and only released upon payment of a large 'fine' as has happened at Suvarnabhumi in the past couple of years. If you have to kill yourself cigarettes are roughly 95 baht a pack duty paid, 70 baht duty free at Swampy, and 80 baht in Abu Dhabi.

Is it safe to buy from BKK duty free now - are they still scamming people at Duty Free?

Do BKK Duty free have those terrible photos on the packets?

Thanks

I knew a guy (wealthy) who brought several thousand cigarettes in from Dubai and paid the duty on them simply to avoid having the packets with the photos of dead people and blackened lungs on. If you smoke though, why be squeamish - its the reality. I honestly don't know if the fags at Swampy have the photos, but the ones in Dubai don't. As to whether its safe to buy in duty free here. I don't know but be very careful if you do.
