Girl saved from lollipop choking

CHUMPHON: -- A two-year-old girl was rushed to hospital Thursday with a lollipop lodged in her throat and bits of wiring that could have come from an illuminated handle attached to the sweet floating in her stomach.

It was suspected by health officials that the lollipop with a handle that lights up was illegally imported from China.

Palm-oil farmer Amnuay Boontin and his wife Waranya discovered the lollipop lodged in their daughter Nathanont's throat when she started to struggle to breath late Thursday morning.

At Lang Suan Hospital, doctors were able to remove the lollipop, but took X-rays of her stomach as a precaution. They were stunned to find two pieces of metal - one resembling an electric light filament and another resembling a paper clip.

They said the metal would probably be removed by surgery.

Am I reading this right. If the lollipop is illegally imported it will light up? It won't light up then if it's legally imported?
