I drive a 2007 Colorado and have a few questions.

The original wheels are 15 inch with 215/70 r15c tires. Currently it has 16 inch wheels with 245/70r16 tires on the front and 265/70r16 on the rear. The tires are getting a little old and I was wondering what would be the pro's and cons of changing back to the original setup? The wheels with tires would be smaller in diameter (appr. 10 cm) and width Will be less (appr. 5 cm). Will there be differences in handling, suspension, fuel consumption or other stuff I didn't think About?

Another question, I am a noob with cars, The suspension on tHe car is like a boat, sometimes on a lesser Road it is like sailing on a boat on rough waters. Can this be adjusted/changed ? How?

Thanks a lot anybody who knows About this stuff!

Going from 171.5/185.5mm sidewalls to 150mm sidewalls is definitely going to feel very different. You'll get less wallowing, sharper turn in, more predictable rebound rates (less bouncy), but also poorer ride quality. You'll also probably get less road noise (though that depends on the choice of tire too), and slightly better FE due to less rolling resistance.

The manufacturer got it right - revert to OEM sizes and then judge. It could just be that like many people, pickups won't ever meet your expectations of course :)

Thank you very much imho.

The manufacturer knows best - that was exactly what i was thinking!

More control, less wallowing, better steering sounds good to me. A little less comfort is no problem, i really don't like my car being a boat now!

Any ideas on where to go for rims and tires? Chevrolet dealer? Specialised shop, there are lots of those in nakhon sawan where i live... What price are we talking about for 4 rims with tires plus work? I don't want those tuning style wheels, just something normal.

No idea where you are, but many places have wheels with tyres 2nd hand..

Maybe even have normal wheels and tyres from the Chevy that someone exchanged to big ones. why spend lots of money on brand new when your could swap cheap.. spend an afternoon, visit a few and ask.......... as your present ones are bigger maybe are worth the same or more

Definitely not the dealer - they'll just subcontract it out and add a margin. Stop by some of the local tire shops and see what changeover prices they can give you...

Forgot, remember wheel width is important when combined with tyre width. If you put a wider tyre on a rim designed for a narrower tyre it will wallow. My tyres are 265/70x16, not sure of the rim width but think 6 or 6 1/2 inch and work fine.

I had a tire explode on the highway, scary but nothing bad happened! It was the left front one. Changed all tyres to 215/65/16 so total wheel size is same as original factory wheels. Also had 2 front shocks replaced. And brake shoes on the rear wheels.

A world of difference: no more wallowing, a lot less noise from the tyres, car is lower, steering is more direct and the feeling of being glued to the road in sharp curves. Its great!

Had it done at B-Quik nakhon sawan, just opened, brand new shop. Satisfied. The guy really sounded like he knows what he's talking about. They do a free checkup and then it's up to you to decide what work you want done. Probably not the cheapest option but hey, it's tyres and brakes, no cheap charlying on those
