BANGKOK, 25 November 2014 (NNT)-The Royal Thai Army said it would not increase the steps to curb activists despite reports of higher opposition against the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO).

Army Chief Udomdej Sitabutr, in his capacity as the Deputy Defense Minister, has stated that it is nothing unusual that there are people who oppose the NCPO. However, many surveys taken recently suggested that more than 80% of Thai people have trust in the NCPO.

The Army is also now trying to raise the level of understanding for people politically disagreeing with the current administration. Those with different opinions can express their views as long as they are within the rule of law.

General Udomdej said he might consider setting up a stage for people to voice their thoughts and that the Army will not impose any harder restrictions as everyone is a civilized person.

You can fool some people some of the time but not all the time , any harsh controls may well come back and bit the military big time , 80% seems a little high for support and if that were the case their is justification to form your own political party and lets see how popular you really are..

Seriously you are joking. NCPO wrote the law in its handcrafted Provisional Constitution in Sections 47 & 48 approving its actions by granting itself amensty.

And to show its sincerity the NCPO cancelled martial law throughout the nation and gave up its powers under Sections 17 and 44 of the Interim Charter. Not really. Mr. Grumpy will decide when, where, and how there needs to be harsher controls on political activists.

This is what is known throughout the world as a display of intelligence. Something not often seen from this administration. Making the students into martyrs would not play well with the masses. A little bit of resistance and disobedience should be something a big man like Prayuth can handle. Or not? Is he a tough man with the skin of an alligator, or a sensitive man with the skin of a moth?
