Popular Post webfact Posted November 25, 2014 Popular Post Posted November 25, 2014 Koh Tao murders: Burmese legal, forensics teams arriveKOH SAMUI: -- A 12-member Burmese team, including legal and forensic experts, arrived in the Thai capital, Bangkok, on Sunday to assist and observe in the case involving two young migrants who are due to go on trial for the 15 September murder of two British tourists on the Thai island of Koh Tao.The Burmese team, which is headed by upper house speaker Khin Aung Myint, plans to meet Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha, as well as Thai MPs, the Thai Human Rights Commission and Thai Lawyers Council. It also plans to speak to the two suspects, Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Tun, who claim to be innocent of the charges of rape and murder and say they confessed after being beaten and threatened by local police. After arriving in Bangkok, the 12-member team met with Burmese embassy representatives and lawyers who have already been involved in assisting their detained compatriots.Khin Aung Myint and his team arrive with a collection of donations from Burmese MPs. Lawyer Aung Myo Thant said the money will be used to bail out the youngsters.Meanwhile, Burma’s parliament has sent an official letter to the chairman of Thailand’s National Legislative Assembly, requesting justice in the high-profile case.English tourists Hannah Witheridge and David Miller were bludgeoned to death in the early hours of 15 September on a secluded part of Sairee Beach. Miss Witheridge was also raped. After an international outcry, Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Tun were arrested two weeks later, police claiming that DNA taken from Witheridge matched the two suspects. However, the Thai police’s handling of the case has been widely condemned. Britain sent its own team from Scotland Yard to investigate the crime scene, but they are yet to release a report. DVB -- Samui Times 2014-11-25 4
Popular Post sweatalot Posted November 25, 2014 Popular Post Posted November 25, 2014 Good to read this. Without the social media - us - the books would have been closed long ago. Even the desperate and evil efforts of some trolls could not stop the process. The B2 would have been convicted and we would find just a small article that the case was solved and the culprits got their punishment For the Thai police it must feel like waking up from a sweet dream and finding themselves in sober reality 8

Social media has done a hell of a lot to keep this case in the public domain and given worldwide attention to the absolute calamity that is the Thai justice system. Without this spotlight that would not go away it has made the usual Thai cover up and scapegoating very difficult. This visit would never be happeing if it wasn't for the attention gained from places like this very thread. It is very very hard to commit for the likes of the public prosecutor to send this to court when he knows the whole world is watching him. Without that, this would already be in court on the fudged up so called evidence the police put forward. The prosecutor does not want this pushed on him from the police because he knows it is based on lies and corruption. I know it, they know it, YOU know it, the Brits know it, the Burmese government knows it and the whole world knows it. As much as you want to live in blissful ignorance in your huge hole you have dug yourself over the months.... There will be NO trial, because the r is NO evidence. This is looking more like a political storm in the making. I will bet a pound to a penny that Prayuth doesn't fancy a scrap with Myanmar on this. The Myanmar government seem to be putting their foot down on this issue, now watch the Thais capitulate. 12

Your opinion is a minority and you are in a very small group of about 3 people that are out numbered by at least 300,000,00 . What ridiculous statement saying social media has accomplished little you forgot to mention what happened in uk with a petition raised on social media and hundreds of thousands of forum posters condemning this. 5

The Brits are yet to release their report which can not be released until the official inquiry scheduled for January where the whole investigation that has been going on from Britain and Thailand will be heard. Oh trust me..... Once they have the inquiry this will whip up a hell of a storm if my suspicions are correct. There will be NO cover up from the Brit police. To many media waiting to crawl all over any contradictions etc. If the police believe there has been a cover up, they will certainly say so. Once that happens, then the pressure is piled onto the politicians to do something about it. That is when requests change to demands. 2

Ummm as has been pointed out, the parents of the victims request for more information about the deaths of their children accomplished the involvement of the UK police. The actual petition to be presented to Parliament in the UK got less than 100 confirmed esigs. As for minority position, many people have expressed opinions only to be abused by the conspiracy theorists. Few enough hang around after. 2

Kees5555 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Did I miss something?I have never heard the defense asking to check the sperm that was found inside Hannah Witheridge. It is a fact, right??? There is sperm .... so why did I not hear the two Burmese men say: "Hey, that can not be our sperm, check it!"I suppose that the Thai police did not jerk the men off..... Or found some sperm in a towell in the room of the 2 Burmese men.Is the British police in possession of this sperm? 1

Or found some sperm in a towell in the room of the 2 Burmese men. Is the British police in possession of this sperm? Reasonable question (the first one) but little is actually known about the DNA. Which is one reason I want to see a trial. As for the last question. I doubt that the UK police have it. They probably have the report from Thailand.

I guess you have not seen the petition (social media) that was signed by thousands (conspiracy theorists?). Anyway..no point to point-out the rest..seems you are in the dark about it. I'm not not interested in opinions bud...and neither are those in the social-media..many were asking several relevant questions about camera video, whereabouts of the REAL suspects, DNA testing. which has been ignored or dismissed by the police....we're not buying the obvious set-up.

The B2 would have been convicted and we would find just a small article that the case was solved and the culprits got their punishment For the Thai police it must feel like waking up from a sweet dream and finding themselves in sober reality Well said. Yes, three cheers for "us". But I think the social media came second to the value of The Guardian. When the two Burmese wrote a note in the courtroom regarding their innocence, being denied writing materials in their cell, they wrote on paper handed to them by The Guardian which The Guardian then relayed to the world. I don't mind at all being corrected but I think The Guardian was the only Western news organization in the world that actually attended Andy Hall's trial on which, I think "the books would have been closed long ago" otherwise. In contrast is the despicable coverage of Australia's Fairfax Media for which Thailand scarcely exists. And Sydney is a lot closer to Bangkok than Manchester is. A last point if I may, Thailand in general, the Police and the government in particular, are beyond clueless just how angry falang are about this farce. I have in mind the falang who have been here for years and have seen "Arrest Burmese, Extract Confession, Case Closed" for years. Thai Police have 'jumped the shark'. 3

The Poms have no legal input? If the Burmese ask them to give their findings on behalf of the defence they have a perfectly legal right to give share findings, especially considering the Thais invited them..
