Where To Buy Acetone (Not Nail Polish Remover) in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Hello,

There are several topics on Thai Visa Forum talking about Acetone that I already read, but didn't find what I'm searching for. I was looking for Acetone (not the nail polish Remover though as the solution is quite weak) and went to some "large" pharmacies, as suggested in previous threads but none of them carried it.

Does anybody know where to buy Acetone (1L bottle should be fine, as I don't need industrial quantity) in Bangkok, preferably along the bts line if possible?

Thank you.

So which is it you want, Acenote or Acetone? Actually, wouldn't you have better luck, looking in the Home Mart or other building supply type places?

One near MRT Thailand Cultural Center Station, other locations easy to find.

Where's Walter White when you need him?

Thanks for the headsup. I definitely meant Acetone.

Do you know for sure if that location carries Acetone? I went to Home Pro Plus the other day and didn't find any.

If that store didn't have it, perhaps not. Maybe you could also try other types of stores that sell paint, or this company. I've never been, or if I have, it was years ago, but perhaps worth a call.

I checked True Value at K village, but there was no acetone.

Is there any paint store you suggest?

Boots UK sell it in 50ml bottles provided they like the look of you. Whether Boots Thailand do might be worth a check but I would doubt it. Problem is that it's been replaced in many uses by other solvents and also of course it is an ingredient in improvised explosives. Not likely to find it in building supply places. Main uses now are industrial and by the barrel rather than bottle. Still has a limited use in the science lab and there are a few supply places around by democracy monument that might have it.

As acetone is a component used to produce drugs, it is not freely sold in Thailand.

As I need to clean silicone and glue residue, I brought 2 liters with me the last time I visited Farangistan. I'm surprised they still sell it there.

True. Used in yabba manufacture but only as a solvent and there are many that can replace it. Have to ask how on earth did you bring it back ? blink.png

OP. As this Thailand and it doesn't always make sense could be worth asking for it by its proper name, Propanone.
