Thai Police chief plays down more arrest of CIB bribery gang

A few more is just hardly worth a mention to this guy. If it were another 50% of the force, well, it's possible he would investigate further.

You really think such would be likely if a fox were guarding the hen house? Remember, when you point a finger at one person there are three pointing back at you.

CIB run nationwide gambling dens.

Our casino next door in Sakon Nakhon is still in full swing.

If this is a nationwide issue you can be assured that many cops get a pie of the cake. What stuck me is that after all those confessions not one gambling place was raided so I guess the show goes on only with different beneficial receivers.. .

So, given the recent comments about how much police pay in CIB paid to get a transfer/promotion, can we assume that all senior police in other departments will have their assets checked.??

Good point - everyone pays and so does it work in the army otherwise you wouldn't have so many generals in the army. I still wonder how much Prayuth paid to become the chief of the army. Must have been an expensive ride but looks it finally pays off for him and the family.

So it is clearly like the PM said, the justice process will go its NORMAL way.

Yes, it will go it's normal way and the perpetrators will be prosecuted.

All this has happened during the Yingluck administration and before.

So, well done to this PM for sorting these scum out and bringing them to justice.

Some of you, please, open your eyes and realize that a new era has come across Thailand.

Hope with all my heart it will continue and I can't see why not.

I do trust this administration and believe to their intentions and capabilities.

I hope you're right Costas, I really do.

And I wish this guy would just keep his mouth closed,, according to the news yesterday the evidence was all of the Chiefs house, he was literally bathing in baht,,

If it is the start of a new era it will be such a great thing for Thailand..

One thing I know for sure, is: Pandora's box has been opened, wide! (Funnily 'Pandore' is the name given in old French to an... Officer of the Law)

For whatever reason(s), ONE criminal syndicate inside the RTP is being exposed, with tens of high-ranked Officers involved (whatever 'Mr' Somyot says to minimalise it), and probably the allegiance/complicity of HUNDREDS more (only the ones who got their promotions through the gang should already be in larger number), having robbed tens of Billions of Bahts (only the part which will be known of).

Well, now, try to convince the most 'buffalo' of all Thais that there was ONLY ONE of such criminal syndicates inside the RTP, and be sure that the HUGE size of the ill-acquired wealth will make it very hard, even for 'Mr Buffalo', to forget about the matter any time soon, and rather expect to have the lids of all the uniformed cesspools lifted, whatever bad they smell...

Diderot's young Jacques refused to say an 'A' on his master's request, and explained it was because, after the 'A', there would be a 'B', and the master would not be content before Jacques would have recited the whole alphabet to him. One can't expect the Thai brass to know about old French classics, but that's what they exposed themselves too, after refusing to say an 'A' for generations, now they have chosen to give one, EVERYONE wants them to say a 'B', and to recite the whole corruption's alphabet. Will Gen. Prayuth have the power on the 'powers that be', and the unanimous support of his own aeropage of Generals, Air Marshalls and Admirals, of all the Armed Forces 'big brass', ...and the Police's (not many might of be left in the end). I do certainly hope, but sincerely doubt it! Not to forget the axe has not yet been any close to the Militarys' golden homes...

Siren, siren - cover-up alert.

Obviously this is getting too close to home for certain people - and so is being closed down.

Only those too close to the last government can be targeted perhaps? While they are no doubt guilty as sin, what about the rest?

I think the key word is (YET) that is what he said, no arrest warrants have been written out or served yet.

So I reckon if any further info comes up they will be issued and served.

Nothing to do with corruption. wai2.gifwai.gif

A political purge.

This had everything to do with corruption. The scale and reach was massive. Some were loyal to the previous government, but that doesn't mean this wasn't a good bust. With the top cop gone and this guy, the head of this corrupt snake might have been cut off???? Only time will tell. But this was impressive.

Simple turf war.

Check BP "inactive posts" story.

thumbsup.gif

I've read that. Simple fact is these guys were the top of a massively corrupt network. From gambling to illegal import of oil to the violence in the south. They were the head of the snake. Will others jump in who are just as corrupt? Only time will tell. It'd be pure speculation at this point.

Bet there's no investigation of military officers.

How can you play down a story like this involving such senior officers, and potentially more to come, plus the amount of cash etc supposedly involved ?

Any attempt at ' just a few bad apples ' or similarly weak excuse won't wash.

Maybe the chief should stick to his day job of investing in the stock exchange.

At least one is a military officer - reported as major or captain in different media. Apparently he had already been stripped of his rank despite the crimes only being alleged at the moment and no conviction yet....

Didn't see that report so thanks.

Presumably its in connection with the police corruption investigation but will purely military corruption be looked at ?

Personally i don't think this whole business is about corruption and it is just being used to purge certain group of people.

I would be very happy to see others not related to these being picked up and then would have more faith in what is going on.
