Student Couples Under 25 Cannot Share Same Dorms, Thai Govt Rules

Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha, chairman of the military junta and Prime Minister, poses for photo in a campaign to promote HIV-AIDS awareness in Thailand before he attends Cabinet meeting at Government House, 25 November 2014

BANGKOK - The conservative military government of Thailand has approved a law that would bar university students of different sexes from sharing the same dorm rooms, unless they are older than 25.

The draft of the law calls for a segregation of sexes for occupiers of "student dorms" across the country and defines "dorms" as the residence for university students under 25 years of age, according to the minutes of yesterday's Cabinet meeting that were published by the Government House website and first reported by Prachatai news site.

Although the bill does allow dorms that cater to both sexes in the same compound, the buildings still have to be separated, and women and men cannot live in the same building, the draft of the law proclaims.

Following the Cabinet's approval, the bill has been sent for further deliberation by the junta's rubber stamp parliament, the National Legislative Assembly (NLA).

How about a law that Thai politicians can't have Mia nois unless she's over 65.

Schools should be making this rules for their students, not the government.

Rome's burning and they waste time on trivial crap.

What about the infamous Thai ladyboys and katoey students?

They make up about 30% of the student populations.

Khaosod making their views on the NLA quite clear.

Welcome back to the dark age, instead of trying to ban legal sex between consenting students how about informing them about safe sex. This isn't just conservative it's backward.

Another silver bullet.

This will fix HIV/AIDS, unwanted pregnancies, student violence, and ebola.

That's the problem when the government is run by a group of great grandfathers who are so out of date with today's culture.

Students' protests in France in 1968 began exactly like this ... we wonder why in 2014 any state in the world (except muslim ones of course) could bother with such personal things.

Thailand struggles with teen pregnancy.

Is it the same country?

Maybe not. The pregnant teens are poor. The "maybe or maybe not virgin" students are rich.

These young padawans will move to other venues. This will not solve the problem of cohabitation. More votes will be delivered to the dark side of the force. By then, they will have to worry not only about 3 fingered salutes but also light sabers and Jedi apprentices...

Right

How to antagonize the youth in one minute.

Young Thai don't care about election but they care about sex.

the HORMONES REVOLUTION.

Mrs.Trans tells me kids become adults in their 30's....w00t.gif .....Going by here offspring, she is totally correct...............sad.png

Posters are right. Young pals will be able to f...k in other venues.

The point is that this measure shows how the Junta considers the youth and Thais in general => like immature creatures.

The coup => because the adults are not able to discuss peacefully and solve their conflicts around a table.

This measure => because young guys are supposed to f...k like rabbits.

Kind of insulting.

So gay couples are ok then ?

No problem this is Thailand.whistling.gif

Private universities are just that. Private...and its have own rules. Students decided and chose, not the Government.

This is coming exactly when the PM is welcoming students opinions and asking for its support...

I have to admit...This do not makes any sense!

BANGKOK: -- A draft of new regulations for student dormitories were approved by the cabinet Tuesday, though it’s unclear why.

Perhaps intended to stop young people from boning, screwing, humping and generally <deleted> every chance they get, the rules seem mainly concerned with making sure rooms for boys and girls were in separate buildings.

“Dormitories are categorized into two types: male and female dormitories,” read the draft legislation. “The operators may provide rooms for male and female students in the same area, but they must be in different, separately licensed buildings.”

The legislation states residents must be undergraduates studying in government or private educational institutions under 25.

"A central committee for dorm business will also be appointed to help inspect if there are student couples living together."

That's coconuts having a laugh, right?

A Thai male can however marry and have sex with a 13 year old girl as long as the parents agree.

Gives you a sense of perspective, doesn't it. blink.png

Too late! At the age of 25, a female Thai has already given birth twice. With or without "Dorm".

Cheers.

.

So they can smoke, drink, vote, (at least once upon a time) join the army and be shot at, but strictly no jiggy jiggy? Right, that makes perfect sense...

I think fair enough. If this is university owned premises they can set whatever rules they like.

Student rooms should be single occupancy. Thus, no permenent rooming.

The Universities aren't setting the rules, the junta is.
