dave_boo
Kawasaki price list at motor expo 2014: With those 250SL models let's see how long the Ninja 300 and Z250 are on the market. The new models seem to be a nice deal; should also put even more pressure on the CB®300 models.

You'd think that he of all people wouldn't be falling into the "japanese bikes are cookie cutters of each other" and get the V-Strom/Versys correct. Kawasaki will be the first big bike shop I viset when I get home from work. I would love a Tiger XR but my current needs just can't justify one, but I will go look anyway. I would love a Tiger XR but my current needs just can't justify one, but I will go look anyway. Yeah...it's been confusing time! I had been thinking hard about my next bike. Obviously I wanted a Honda, but the 650 series, which is probably a better buy than the ER-6* series, didn't do it for me as there was no touring bike. The Versys 650 was kind of tempting...but left me with a 'bleh' feeling. Then the Versys 1000 was released. Wow; a nice looking bike that had plenty of power for a decent price. But I was still holding out hope that Honda would release an Africa Twin 1000 before I purchased my next bike. Then Triumph went and dropped their prices. So I can get up an upgrade in power (2x...not quite as much as the 3x from the Versys 1000 upgrade but still decent) and a fairly technologically advanced bike. Oh...and it would be cheaper than the Versys. Seems to be a no-brainer...unless BMW drastically drops the prices on their bikes. The F800 GS Adventure is supposed to be the better bike (with the exception of being 10 HP less) and if it gets priced closer to the Tiger I'd have to seriously consider that.
Popular Post guzzi850m2
dave_boo, I hear you man. Buying a new bike takes a lot of hard thinking unless you are the kind of guy that buys with your heart. The Versys 650 2015 is not what you can call super exciting considered what else you can buy now, far from it, perhaps in 2008. This is a poor mans do it all bike (well not serious off-roading) and it do it all fairly well and should be fun to ride on a twisted road. After my son was born my wife will never go touring with me again on a bike so I don't need a +100hp bike. I am not poor/not rich but my famliy always comes first so shelling out large amounts of cash on a bike will not go well down with Mrs guzzi I like the fact that the versys is made here in LOS and there are many dealers aound the country. Parts/service are very cheap too. I beleive you have the CB500X and if memeory serve me right and goes 2 up when touring? A Versys 650 has only about 40-50% more power than a CB500 and it's not known to be super good 2up, more power will be better so I can understand you wants more umph. Well if we compare to year 2010 and today, being a biker in Thailand is just soooo much better now.

Well if we compare to year 2010 and today, being a biker in Thailand is just soooo much better now. I wish I could buy with my heart, but I have essentially the same issues you do. If I didn't, I'd be posting a crazy amount of pictures about my Super Tenere. I've always complimented Kawasaki for what they did to the Thai motorcycle market. They busted the big bike scene open and established a network around the kingdom to provide peace of mind. Yes, compared to the options now, the ER-6/Versys class is rather staid. BUT it is a nice logical progression from what I've been doing. 17 (or so) hp CBR 150 -> 25 hp Ninja 250 -> 43 hp CB500X. Is this progression slow? Yes. Is it costly? I don't think so. I've spent about 430K in the last 8 years on those bikes. All, with the exception of the Ninja at first, I've enjoyed for one reason or another. I've come a long way as a rider and still have a long way to go. I don't consider spending 6,000 baht a month for that time an expensive ordeal for all that I enjoyed. The 500X works well enough for touring. On the Nan run with nebula, we had 140 kg of riders and gear, plus a weeks worth of clothing. It was able to roll along on the 32/1 at 130+ km/h without issue and behaved just as well as the CBR 250 in the mountains. I just wonder what an extra 50-100% more power would be like for overtaking or being lazy and not having to shift so much. Mrs. dave_boo isn't too bad about keeping me on a short leash. Luckily she still likes going touring with me; I think that's mostly just to make sure I come back! Add in the fact that it was she who bought the Ninja 250, and is cajoling me to buy a Multistrada (thanks to the trip me made to Uthai Thani), she's a keeper. But family first, so I carefully weigh my purchasing decisions.

Popular Post ll2
Had a quick visit today. Will come again maybe tomorrow as no time today. Checked all makers. Only new arrivals are ducati scrambler, kawasaki h2, suzuki vstrom xt 650, yamaha r6, zero motorcycles kine up and some new Chinese bikes. Very less accessory shops as well. Honda has no new offerings and ap version lookalike is us spec cbr1000rr and no, they will not be selling it here. Zero Motorcycles is in Thaland now. They are opening their showroom soon. New Suzuki vstrom xt650 is looking cool at 365 k thb and spoked wheels and the beak. New kawa 250 cc naked is a very good looking small bike too. I like it and it is good value. Yamaha brought R6 finally and can be ordered now but 3 months waiting. 660 k THB! Was expecting around 500 k thb, too much imo as yamaha r1 is going like 860 k thb. Gpx brought a 150 cc chinese bike. Looks like coming from the generic bike family as cluster is looking like benellis. 58 k thb. Not sure who buys it. Ducati scrambler looks cool. Nice details but liked the icon red version the most and luckily it is the cheapest! Triumph stand was so popular. 400 k thn triumph bikes are tempting. Street triple looks and feels superb. So do tiger ones. Servicing them is not cheap though they said. Honda have same bikes bit some different colors and graphics. Yellow kawa er6n look nice. Overall, nice stands and bikes. Pretties were better this time. Some photos:
