geovalin
Charles Rollet The Phnom Penh-based British national who founded the popular online expat forum Khmer 440 died yesterday morning. Peter Hogan, 49, died of apparent “blood in the brain”, his wife told the Post yesterday. Som Souphorn, 28, said she found her husband had “fallen off the bed” after coming home from work on Monday evening. Hogan was taken to Calmette Hospital, where he died at about 9am, said Souphorn, an assistant accountant. Hogan, who arrived in Cambodia more than a decade ago, sold Khmer440 in August and was planning on settling down, friends and family said. “He was an early customer when I took over Jungle Bar in 2005. We became friends around our mutual love for quirky old pop music,” said Garage bar owner Jeff Mudrick. “He was setting up a whole new life, just married, a new house they were poised to move into, a new car for the missus. Tragic.” Hogan, who also taught business classes, was an at-times controversial figure who often posted “brutal” comments on Khmer440 under his username Keeping_it_riel, said Daniel Mackevili, who runs a rival internet forum. “But he was devoted to Cambodia, and to getting to the bottom of a story.” http://www.phnompenhpost.com/national/founder-k440-site-dies-
NeverSure
RIP. Too young to die. His web site never took off and it won't under the new owner. It is dominated by a small clique of regulars who don't want growth much less new members. They don't have a lot of traffic and therefore quality advertisers. It should be the TVF of Cambodia but it never will be. TVF's Cambodia section is a better place to hang and get information. Condolences to his family and friends.

TheSiemReaper
Sorry to hear it; no-one should go that young. Condolences to his family. Like many others though I have to say that Khmer440 is a palce where I wouldn't want to spend my time. His "contributions" to the "expat community" are in genuine need of careful examination at a later date...
