Singapore Airlines to increase Fuel Surcharge on Long Range Services

SINGAPORE: -- As a result of persistently high jet fuel prices, Singapore Airlines is to increase its fuel surcharge on flights between Singapore and North America, for tickets issued on or after 15 August 2006, to US$90 per sector.

The existing surcharges of US$60 per sector for other long haul journeys, and US$20 per sector for journeys within countries in South East Asia, will remain unchanged.

The adjustments offer only partial relief of higher operating costs arising from the price of jet fuel, which now hovers around US$90 per barrel.

The revised surcharge will apply to both non-stop and one-stop flights between Singapore and New York, Newark, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver.
