I bought some expensive 14 watt hallogen globes and they lasted 2 months amd cost 80baht. I can buy the normal 60watt ones for 20 baht each. Anyone have problems with there hallogen lights breaking.

If they are 220V halogens they can be very susceptible to power fluctuations which can significantly shorten their lives, they're not particularly long-lived anyway.

Is there a particular reason you need halogens? LEDs may be a better solution.

Moving to the electrics forum.

Halogen are old hat and are cheap for a reason -- they are power hungry, very hot and don't last. Advise to throw them and substitute for LEDs; you'll make up the cost in no time on the amount of wattage saved. A 3-watt LED puts out similar lumens to a 60-watt halogen or standard incandescent globe. That 60-watt halogen only has to run for approx 15 hours to draw 1 unit of juice, whereas the 3-watt LED would have to be on for over 300 hours (about 2 weeks) to draw the same. You can buy both low voltage (for garden) and mains-operated LEDs today, even dimmable ones and in a variety of hues. A good, brand name LED could last 20 years.

Before we installed a voltage stabilizer, we would lose at least 1 halogen per week, since then maybe only one every 6 months now. Either way, they just don't last, and they do chew electricity.

I'm going with everyone else here - replace them with LED. 3000-3500 Kelvin LED's will give you the same light color as halogen, and a 12-15w LED's will give you about the same amount of lumens (light output) as a 50w halogen (don't believe any claims of a <12w LED matching the output of halogen).
