CDC to save much-debated issues, like PM's election, for last

BANGKOK: -- The Constitution Drafting Committee will save much-debated issues, including the proposal for holding direct election of the prime minister, for considerations after other issues, Wutthisarn Tanchai, the spokesman of the panel, said Thursday.


Wutthisarn added he personally disagreed with the proposal of direct PM election.

Chiang Mai red-shirt leader killed in big bike accident

CHIANG MAI: -- A red-shirt leader in Chiang Mai crashed his big bike at a remote spot on the Denchai-Lampang Road in Phare's Long district Wednesday and died of extensively bleeding, police said.

Police beef up security for US embassy

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Jakthip Yomjinda said Thursday that he has instructed the Metropolitan Police Bureau to beef up security for the US embassy in Bangkok after the US government issued a warning that Thailand might be a target for reprisals after the release of report on US Central Investigation Bureau's investigations against terrorist suspects.


Jakthip said police have been dispatched to guard the embassy on around-the-clock basis.

Woman's head found floating in Samut Prakarn canal

Thailand aims to cut down greenhouse gas emissions by 7-20%

Phuket jet-skis warned, stay off the sand

Driving along the beach pulling trailers is now banned.

PHUKET: Governor Nisit Jansomwong has vowed to revoke the operating license of any jet-ski owner whose machine is found sitting on the sand on any beach in Phuket, along with the boat operator licenses of any staff.
