I have always paid my registration tax on or about the day it fell due ie 27 October. However I bought the car (Vigo) on 4 September which is when the insurance falls due. The intervening time of course was the red plate. Anyway, this year I just forgot and paid them both on about 4 September. I was pleasantly surprised to pay about 500bht less for the tax, which my wife said was for paying early. She also said she had told me in previous years and I hadn't listened. I don't remember her saying anything so she was probably making that bit up and possibly doesn't really know anyway.

Just wondered if anyone does know and any other information.

Never heard that you would get a discount for paying early, and it doesn't really sound logical as you are still paying for one whole year.

However, after the first five years the tax starts decreasing by about 500 Baht per year. On our Nissan Navarra the tax since new have been:

Year 1-5: 4,852 Baht

Year 6: 4,366.80 Baht

Year 7: 3,881.60 Baht

Year 8: 3,396.40 Baht

How old is your Vigo now?
