Poll: Phuket voters say no to animal tourism, entertainment

PHUKET: -- The vast majority of respondents to a recent Phuket News poll oppose animal captivity for the purposes of tourism and entertainment, with some 89 per cent declaring strong opposition to the practice.

Fly and Bike project

BANGKOK: -- Thai Airways International and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) plans special promotions for visitors to tour the country through cycling next year.


There was no further information on the plans, though.

The organisations recently launched the "Fly & Bike Thailand" campaign on the occasion of His Majesty the King's 87th birthday anniversary to promote tourism in Thailand through bicycling. On the day, the bike parade of 999 cyclists were released in Bangkok. It won supports from several parties like Airbus, THAI-Amadeus Southeast Asia Co Ltd, Thai Yamaha Motor Co Ltd, Chang Drinking Water, Oishi Drink, Boeing, Amorn Bicycle, LA Bicycle (Thailand) Co, Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co Ltd, Rolls-Royce, Bumrungrad International Hospital, and Amorn Hamradio Co.

DNP applies for land papers for Phuket’s Trisara, Pullman and Malaiwana to be cancelled

PHUKET: The Department of National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) has recommended cancellation of papers for 17 land parcels totalling around 100 rai – worth an estimated B5 billion and registered as owned by five companies in Phuket.

OAG wants to question more witnesses to clear doubts on G-to-G rice deals

BANGKOK: -- The Office of the Attorney-General wants to question more witnesses regarding the government-to-government rice deals made under the rice pledging scheme to clear some doubts about the deals, said Mr Surasak Srirattrakul, director-general of the Office of the OAG, today.
