Responding to complaints from Tourists, Immigration Police conducted an operation on Walking Street on Tuesday Morning to round-up suspected Eastern European Prostitutes who operate here in Pattaya. Police arrested a total of 6 Uzbekistani Nationals on Walking Street. They were taken to Pattaya Police Station but due to lack of evidence they could only be fined 1,000 Baht each and released with a warning not to engage in prostitution otherwise they will be deported.

Of course they should be deported back to where they came from. The same (of course) goes for the approximately 15 to 20'000 prostitutes of Thai-Nationality that hang around Pattaya.

The question is: Unless the opportunity arises to to live "happily ever after" with a Farang in his home country, clearly, the majority would have to be "deported" back to the small village somewhre deep in the Isaan.

But remember: It is never advisable to question the wisdom and the foresight of "Thai-Authorities".

Cheers.

I am always amazed and how the authorities can't do anything. I wonder if what these ladies got was a warning and perhaps a date that evening?

if there was no evidence , for what crime or misdemeanor were they fined 1000b ?

For wasting the time of the police ?

It's funny, because the usual news story is that they arrested the women and were preparing to deport them.

We've discussed this before, when ever the police round them up, which seems to be on a fairly regular basis.

One theory is that when the women's earnings start to drop, for what ever reason, suddenly the police swoop in and deport a bunch of them. Within days though, there is a whole new crew patrolling soi Walking. :o

Gotta start keeping track of these stories. I thought it was about every 3 months, but seems to be more frequent lately.

I was thinking the same thing "Has it been 90 days already?. Time flies when you're having fun."

...conducted an operation on Walking Street on Tuesday Morning ...

At least the let the ladies get a good nights work in before they cracked down – I guess that increases that chances that they will have the funds to pay the fine.

Wouldn't that kinda probably collapse the local economy?

No same result, all back in 30 days. Different ID. :o

Yes, I believe it would collapse the local economy, especially in Pattaya. But such "deportations" back to the Isaan will never happen. There is just too much money being made in Pattaya, that supports such a large number of whole Families in the Isaan. Everybody knows that, even the "Thai-Politicians" and their natural extention (the law enforcers=the boys in brown). So again, it will not happen. (But then, why sould it?)

Cheers.
