New driver licensing and test process

Featured Replies

Wanting to get my 18-yo Thai (and Thai speaking) son through the local driving licence/test process this upcoming international school holiday period. Anyone have the full details of the new requirements (since June) and the timing involved? Is it possible to complete the whole process in a couple of weeks or so if he's already had enough lessons from me?

I think there are lessons involved before the computer-based theory test and then the physical and practical tests, right?

Thanks for all constructive responses. Searches only brought details for foreigners who can already drive, that I could find.

Lessons required?

A couple of weeks?

Did I miss something?

Of course you can do lessons/practical driving exercises if one desires so (not a bad idea).

But to all what I know, the driving test still consists of some simple exercises on the office yard.

Then there is a theoretical test with 50 questions now, 45 correct answers required.
For a young student an easy task to swot.

Plus the vision and reaction test (physical).

Is it possible to complete the whole process in a couple of weeks

Simply: yes.

All the details can either be found in other recent threads or someone will add here.

KB,

I think you'll find that, for new drivers, there is now a short series of lectures to attend at a local college before the test can be taken, details of which do not seem to be on recent threads, as far as I can see.

Thanks for your input.
