I think you should go for MJCM's advice and order from invade IT since you don't have the key. As he said, you still need to buy the activation key if you downloaded the ISO file.

Yes but you can use it for 30 days, then just a phone call to M$ with debit or credit card they talk you through activation.

Just go to a reputable store like ITCity or BananaIT and by Windows.

You can get the OEM (still very real, and much cheaper) Windows by buying a PC part, like memory or some cheap card. Just ask at one of the fine retailers.

Not necessarily true. It depends as to whether the machine has a currently installed licence.

If you're in Pattaya, go to the IT Mall on Sai south floor 3 or 4 and goto Toshiba. They have many OEM Windows 7 all versions. These are not bootleg copies but actual MS disks. You have to acivate it with an Asian IP Address because MS wants the rest of the world to go to WIN 8. Most of Asia is still using Windows XP and can't afford an upgrade so the price for WIN 7 is nice. Once you've activated it, you can get updates from anywhere in the world.

Actually what they say is not not true. You can do an in-place upgrade...or you can return the current install to a Trial version and then install the genuine key. In addition, you didn't really need the disc at all. You need a genuine product key....

The other option is to check for an existing licence on the Motherboard. But I know from experience that to try to help people on this board is like walking through sludge. I see the same mistakes and misconceptions year after year.

Interesting ! Assume I got a valid key, can you please walk me step-by-step through a simple workflow? Will not open PC , i.e. not look for motherboard, that is No-mans land for me. You would make my Happy New Year!

Run the software and choose to Start Regeneration System. Leave it to do it's thing.

Once complete and you have rebooted;

Download, save and run this software as Administrator and post me(via PM) a screenshot of the Advanced Tab screen.
To run as Admin: Right click on the downloaded file and choose "Run As Administrator" and follow the prompts

To post a screenshot, you have to hit the Print Screen key, then click on the Paste tab in the Paint application. Then Save, upload to http://www.postimage.org/ and then paste the Direct link in a reply.

This will let us know if there is already a legitimate licence installed and also assure me that the system is currently clean....or not.

Then we can insert the licence or product key.
