BANGKOK: -- At some point, everyone leaves something behind in a taxi. Maybe it’s that shiny smartphone that slid out of your pocket or a handbag its Sangsom-wrecked owner failed to notice. But huge sums of cash?

Bangkok must draw some of the most forgetful people holding large sums of cash in the world, if frequent reports are any indication, and some drivers with remarkable integrity.

An informal review of media reports found cash and valuables worth at least THB3.9 million baht forgotten in taxis were returned to passengers from at least 10 nations this year.

"Almost every taxi driver receives a reward from the owner they return missing properties to as an encouragement for their kindness,” said Nareumon Tantakosai of Taxi Radio FM91.

Judging by the picture with the article, some people certainly leave some big diamonds behind.

Imagine leaving such a thing behind.....how could one not notice it missing from their finger?

Unless I'm reading the graphic/article incorrectly, Thailand only returned a measly 115,000 baht in total. And was it only yesterday that 68,000 baht of that was returned to someone?

And in another totally informal review (i.e. I guessed), it was found that the sum total of monies or items that taxi drivers DIDN'T return was in excess of 40 million baht per year and increasing.

Yes, you did misinterpret the graph and the entire story. The graph indicates what countries the people were from, who left money in Bangkok taxis.

Ah yes, I did misinterpret it slightly, however take the one-off Indonesian case out of the equation tho and it's still pretty poor overall I think, considering the number of tourists here and the number of times people forget things in taxi's.

Mind you, if I'd handed back that 2,000,000 baht to the Indonesian couple and got a 5,000 baht reward for my honesty, I'd probably also think twice about doing it again.

If they were to use the brains in their skulls instead of the ones they spend their time sitting on, many of these drivers would get regular rewards in the form of tips from satisfied customers.

Enough of this propaganda taxi BS .....

This is becoming a joke .... They must becoming to realize how intense the general public actually feel about taxi drivers.
