Police to maintain security on New Year holidays

BANGKOK, 22 December 2014 (NNT) – The Police Commissioner-General has said the police are ready to maintain public safety during New Year holidays and will monitor all security information closely.

The Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police Pol.Gen Somyot Poompanmoung stated that the police are ready to provide security protection and traffic assistance for the public during the holiday season.

He said that the Prime Minister had urged the police to specifically take care of the peace and order for the holiday. The Royal Thai Police has enforced measures to take care of the public, especially in areas where countdown events are taking place both in Bangkok and other provinces.

Meanwhile, the police has been exchanging information with related security agencies to prevent any criminal activities, said the Commissioner-General. The police is now monitoring tourists and visitors to Thailand from suspected countries.

However, as Thailand does not have conflict with any countries, it is not likely that Thailand would be the target, said the Commissioner-General.

So why have police "monitor"? And is that asking for passports and urine samples? That's a sure way to catch international 'conflicters.'

Making statements like these just shows a lack of security.

1. The police should be doing their actual jobs and providing security every day of the year. This should not be news in a remotely civilized country.

2. To make an announcement that Thailand has no enemies so there is little chance of terrorism again shows how inept and unprofessional Thai 'authority' is.

Since you clearly don't realize it yourselves, Poompanmoung and Prayuth, Thailand's enemies are irrelevant: terrorists strike at soft targets to get attention. There are a lot of places in Thailand where soft targets and the 'enemies' of terrorists go, such as any tourist area or shopping center.

Question: Why should this have to be pointed out to you, are you really that stupid?

Answer: No, you're not stupid, but you treat your people like they are stupid which is why you made these announcements for mass consumption.

If karma comes to get you it'll be innocent people who will suffer and their blood will also be on your hands.
