Lost passport and overstay?

Featured Replies

Currently on overstay and I've lost my passport.

I need to get a police report which I'm doing tomorrow at Phra Khanong police station.

I suppose my question's obvious. At any stage are they likely to look me up on any system linked to immigration? Or will they just not care?

I plan to fly out on an emergency travel document from the UK embassy, this is possible right?

Thanks.

The police will not check your immigration records when you do the police report.

Immigration will be able to check your details at the airport even with a new (emergency) passport so do be prepared to deal with overstay issue (i.e. have enough cash with you to pay fine)

Presumably you'll be seeking a replacement passport once you're back in sunny Blighty? If so, please bear in mind that the powers-that-be at HMPO will require an English translation of your police report, which will probably be easier (and cheaper) to obtain here.

not required, i did this back in august, got emergency travel document, flew home and in 5 days new passport was in my hand, nothing was requested in uk for lost passport

to the op dont worry too much as police are not interested, obviously dont mention overstay, get emergency travel doc and pay overstay at airport.

I went 1step further when in uk and changed my name by deed pool, free check on internet, went to passport office and had new passport courierd to me in 5 days

very easy do do and no issues here even when i went to laos for double entry

...not only did you 'lose' your passport, you got an emergency travel document, went home, changed your name by deed poll, got a new passport in 5 days and came back as the perpetual Tourist (again). And Theresa May wonders how flankers and terrorists easily get Brit passports.

Meanwhile, OAP Joe Bloggs in Chiang Mai has to make a double round-trip to Bangkok and waits for a couple of months after proving where he lives to some muppet at HMPO in Liverpool. Or my son has to wait an extra month since being 6 years old 'requires extra security checks'.

PS. You really, really must love Thailand a whole helluva lot to change your name so you can lurk below the Immigration radar again. Who are you now BTW? James Bond?

did they not start the new overstay rules yet? last i was told any new overstay will give you a 5 year ban in thailand

New overstay rules are not in effect yet.

Just wonder, why did you change your name? Were you blacklisted?

Otherwise you will be let back in for sure. I had no problem, after even staying in IDC for a while, and also with previous overstay.
