Its just out of curiousity really. The other day back in my country I was speaking to another fella that I know that married a soi 6 virgin. Now he sits there telling the whole sauna how she was a travel guide ect, everyone was trying not to actually laugh in his face. Listen its no problem if you married an ex bar girl. Some marry bar girls but I would say more marry "professional girlfriends" the type that don't work in bars but always seem to be around foreigners. In the end it doesn't matter, I have seen guys marry girls right out of the lowest bar and ten years later (back in Europe or the USA) they are doing fine. On Facebook with two kids and taking pics at the kids soccer game. Then I have seen guys marry educated Thai women and be divorced in two years. I just don't see much of a difference. I never ask how couples met, they will tell me if they want me to know.

I am curious of guys who feel the need to tell you every 10 minutes that their wife comes from a rich family and has this and that. Usually guys that dive into that line of discussion are trying to hide something. Wealthy Thais rarely (I didn't say NEVER) marry people with less money then they have. They tend to stick with their own kind and if they do marry a foreigner the guy is loaded.

In the end who cares, as long as they are happy in the relationship and getting along. Each to their own.

Mine is uni educated with family support.....went to work for electonics factory as unit manager @ 300-400k year working 6-7 days a week...never been in a bar & does not drink....basically a person happy at home. ....very low key.....

Its not so much the case now, but going back to the 80s-90s, it was quite difficult finding a non bar worker who spoke English. I can quite understand why so many guys formed relationships this way.

I guess I am being defensive.

Every time I have mentioned my wife and our relationship here in TV, I get flooded with replies from guys who do not believe that there are any Thai women with farang husbands that are not bar girls or prostitutes.

There are many of us out here that are very happy and married to good Thai women who never worked in the sex industry.

I should also add that I don't consider all Thai women who work in the industry to be bad people.

I know some past and present sex workers who are wonderful people. ( some are very good wives of good friends )

We all do what we need to do to get by.

Some of us have fewer options than others.
