Non immigrant O visa 90 day renewal

Featured Replies

I have a Non immigrant O visa and understand I have to leave the country every 90 days to get my visa renewed -this is the first time I need to stay linger than 90 days in Thailand -do I have I have to leave the country by air and can I do a land Visa run -live in Chiang Mai

You can go by air or land transport, doesn't matter.

Mae Sai in Chiang Rai would be your best option.

Assuming you have a 12 month multiple entry non-O then you can leave and re-enter any way you like, land or air doesn't matter.

If you are married to a Thai or are the parent of a Thai you can apply for a 60 day extension of stay at immigration.

Confirming I have a 1 year multiple entry non immigrant O visa -I am an Australian maried to an Australian so thanks for the replies -so a quick border run to Mai Sai would be the simplest option

Leave the country?

Are you sure?

I have had a non O visa based on marriage, and every 90 days I need to stop by immigration to confirm that my address has not changed, some offices permit this to be done by mail.

I have not had to leave the country since getting my non O visa years ago!

I am surprised I am the first to tell you this.

Many on TV bitch about the inconvenience of a 90 day check in, but it is really no big deal.

The trip to the office will probably take more time than the visit to the office itself.

I am sure the TV experts will correct me if I am wrong,

But I see no reason for you to leave the country at all!

You do not have a non-o visa. You have an extension of stay based upon marriage you get at immigration every year.

You probably had a non-o visa years ago that you used to enter the country but it expired long ago.

No, you do not have a visa, you have an extension of stay based on marriage. That's not a visa, it ony allows you to stay IN THAILAND. If you want to cross borders without losing your status, you would need a re-entry permit because your non-imm O visa expired long ago.

Could this be done with a 90 day single entry non "O" visa ? I am married to a Thai and we have a daughter born here.

It can be done while on any type of visa, visa exempt, or extension of stay, once per entry.
