AIS pocket wifi, slow and many disconnections, beware.

Featured Replies

It is slower than a 7mbps aircard and has many many disconnections

Be forwarned this is a rip off

Had one as back up for some time, up until a few weeks ago it was pretty decent. At present, pretty crap.

using a non-branded ZTE device (they are the main manufacturers of pocket Wifi devices, probably the AIS branded one is a ZTE too?) with an AIS Sim and have no problem at all until today. just don't expect mega-speeds in Thailand in general.

Eastern BKK

Don't make a drama. Unlock it.

Look here and here

Though only on the TRUE and DTAC's 2100MHz networks, as the modem utilises only 900MHz & 2100MHz.

TRUE and DTAC are on 850MHz & 2100MHz.

I have been experiencing the same problems. Sometimes the disconnects are so frequent that I give up and sign off. Writing an email of any substance and ensuring that I do not have to input the same info again requires many saves to the\Drafts folder just to make sure I have not lost any data. As for the so called 21.6Mbps, it is closer to 21.6 Kbs.

I am confused, I thought we were debating the performance of the AIS Pocket WiFi which I understand is a ZTE modem.

Your links refer to E5220 3g Huawei modem. Are we discussing the same product?

How on earth would I know? smile.png

If the ZTE MF 65, you can still unlock it, but you'd have to pay.

What happens if you select 3G only?

Bump to remind people to be very wary of AIS products.

I know just about every telco in the world rips customers off, as its just to easy for them to do and so little you can do back.

(Years ago I bought a call counter to use in australia and found telstra was over charging me by at least 25%

they were saying i was averaging TEN calls a day, when in fact it was 7)

and with the "tough" consumer regulations in Thailand it would be doubly so!

Your post is just libellous nonsense.

I've had no problem using their 8GB data package. Their 'Pocket WiFi' are made by ZTE and Huawei...just like everyone else. They aren't even responsible for the firmware within.

So if you have anything about you, try not to embarrass yourself by posting such nonsense. Seems that you are rather prone to getting caught out. Perhaps try educate yourself beforehand.

Have you unlocked the thing and tried it with another network's SIM? Have you selected 3G only within the settings?

Is it that you just decided to waste our time by posting more useless nonsense?

Do something, instead of whining.

right so the video i will be uploading is a hoax?

you obviously think you know much more than you actually do.

555 "waste our time" who exactly is "our"? 555

you speak for all?

delusions of grandeur?

heres an idea, leave this thread to go forth and procreate.

so to continue

i filmed my 7mps aircard streaming radio, no cut outs and then same computer, same position, same stream with the pocket wifi and it cuts out

all the time. all settings correct checked everything over and over,

the product is AIS branded they sell, it its their responsibility for it to work as advertised and IT DOESNT.

Have you set it to 3G only? Unlocked and updated the firmware? Just content to post impotently on a forum that has nothing to do with AIS?

Jiu-Jitsu, prehaps you could explain where you got your info from! The following is an extract from the AIS website giving product details. There is no switch or other means of selecting 3G only, which you keep repeating without further explanation. When purchased there are no instructions for selecting a specific bandwidth,

"The main selling point • Applicable maximum speed of 21.6Mbps • Easy to use, no need to install. Turn on the computer and can be used immediately • portable device that turns the phone into a Wifi signal available with all types Wifi - band support. GSM / GPRS / EDGE 850/900/1800 / 1900MHz - band support 3G HSPA + / HSPA / UMTS 900 / 2100MHz - Speed Download 21.6 Mbps and upload up to 5.76Mbps - battery usage time up to 4 hours - Battery mode. Stand by for 100 hours - compatible with the operating system Window 7 / XP / Vista / Win8 and Mac OS 10.4 / 10.5 / 10.6 / 10.7 / 10.8."

You are either more tech savvy than the rest of us or its just humbug.

Considering the attitude of the two on this thread, I'm not inclined to use my precious holiday time to help them further.

Excuses, excuses, but still no expansion of stated advice.

...and there certainly won't be now. You can suffer.

Next time, try humility.
