The thing is in the main it is about calories consumed not the type of food, and in this respect h90 is about right. Yes some foods are absorped in different ways but that is the overall picture, give or take. Thus one need not suffer with a strict or boring diet and you can eat trash. If you eat a couple of donuts eat your main meal an hour late and cut down on the carbs. You can even gorge yourself now and then, in this instance skip a meal before or after or determine that you will go to the gym before or after.

Optimal health is a different issue of course. Each person has to make his choice on that one.
