Economic Crime Division chief abruptly removed

1-9-2015-10-31-12-PM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The commander of the Economic Crime Division Pol Maj-Gen Thongchai Wongsriwattanakul has been abruptly transferred to an inactive post at the operations centre of the National Police Office.

Pol Gen Somyos Phumpanmuang, the national police chief, signed the order for the sudden removal of the ECD chief, on January 8. No reason was given for the abrupt transfer.

The order said that Pol Maj-Gen Thongchai would receive job assignments from Pol Gen Somyos until there are changes to the order.

Appointed to succeed Thongchai as the new ECD commander is Pol Maj-Gen Chavalit Sawaengpuet, currently deputy commissioner of Central Investigation Bureau.

This Thai was "transferred" but not charged with any crimes or loss of benefits, salary, pension until found innocent. What is the actual job definition of this ECD role? Does anyone actually know?

Actual job is to catch and extort from people who commit economic crimes AND are out of favour with whoever is currently in power at that time.

That should be in his next resume.

Geez how big is this place?

The offices of inactive post must be huge, since they are the biggest employer in this country....

But also the most secretive, since it is never mentioned on any CV nor do we ever hear anything more about those peoples jobs in this place

Inactive post: a position which gives you full, dedicated time to cover your tracks made while in an active post. Repeated studies have shown covering your tracks while also working in the job detracts from your job performance. Request for an extension of time in an inactive post for 90 days will be automatically approved but is usually not required once governments change. There is no limit on the number of extensions allowed. Application fee: free.

Just wait until Pol Gen Somyos Phumpanmuang gets his turn in having an inactive post.

Then maybe we all will see a serious attempt at eliminating corruption as a start in the RTP organization.

Again, TVF members should do some internet research regarding backgrounds related to RTP and the Thai military.

It is an eye-opener!

The EDC have their offices in Sathorn Road, they are charged to stop the sales of counterfeit clothes, handbags etc etc, you will spot them often in Pantip chasing the DVD sellers for some tea moneys. In the last few years they have joined forces with the "Internet" Police who now also come under the auspice of the EDC. They collect huge sums of tea moneys. w00t.gif Good luck to him in his new position.

The term they do not want to use is "under investigation.

That's what an "inactive post" really means.
