An expat friend of mine was recently involved in a near fatal motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed for life. It spooked my wife and now she wants me to purchase a life/accident policy with AIA just for safety's sake. They're quoting me around 27,000 baht per year for a policy. Just wondering if anyone has experience with AIA and if so, what you think about it. Ever made a claim or know anyone who has? Please, serious replies only. No wife/life insurance jokes or smart remarks......I've heard enough of them already.

That's about the price I pay for my AIA Insurance,, to be honest with you, i would not have thought about having it before, That was until i met the wife, who works for AIA and persuaded me to take out an Insurance policy.

In the past 4 years I have had to use AIA on 3 separate occasions, twice when I fell ill and found myself in hospital for nearly 1 week,, and Thank God I had AIA.. because the prices they charge in them places is Scandalous, and then I had to use them when I had an accident,, maybe its because The big boss ( wife) is an agent for AIA, im not sure,,, but they where quick to take care of all the bills, and also very quick in sending out a cheque,, for If you have to stay in hospital or have an accident they will pay you out insurance money smile.png

If you need any advice or any more info, drop me a PM

I have had accident claims paid promptly by AIA for myself; also our grandchildren have had hospitalisation paid on several occasions over the past 10 years.

All paid without fuss.

Had a Thai friend who was treated at the emergency room at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. He has AIA. Because the doctor ordered an MRI scan to check for internal injuries, the total came to around Baht 20,000. Had to pay cash because the hospital wasn't very enthusiastic about the propsect of ever collecting anything from AIA. That was four or five months ago and AIA has so far reimbursed nothing. The agent who got him to sign up for the policy just keeps waffling about the claim being processed.

I have a problem with AIA insurance, I have looked through their website hoping to get hospital insurance, and can't even find out how to ask for a quote. If I have missed something, then all I can say is it should be easy for anyone to ask for a quote.

I have AIA Health and accident cover as well. They pay only for inpatient (stay in hospital), means for dr visits you have to pay everything from your own pocket.

Good news. Looks like we have the same policy and I was not sure if was a decent deal. After 6 months on it, last week I had a small accident and they pay the 2000 THB private hospital bill for the small treatment. The policy only pays for accidents occurring between 24 hours. I understood that for normal health problems, its pays only the expenses during hospitalization, but not for doctor consultation, exams, or any treatment without hospitalization. Is that true?.

I have the basic plan hospital with 100,000 life rider until 80 years old, and I am paying 2,680/month. I got it at 69 and 11 months old. If works well for myself I will got one for my Thai wife. She only have the SS coverage, she is 48. Please ask your wife and let me know, Thank you.

Steve.. What do u pay for your health cover?

Does it cover private hospital dr visits?

I pay about 27,000 Baht, which pretty much covers everything,, Room in a private hospital, doctors fees, medication ETC,, you could have a lower cover, if you wanted, but then you would find the cover, would fall short in what you are entitled too,, Meaning a lower cover, you might only get 1500baht towards a room for the night,so much towards doctors fees, and so much towards medication, ETC,,,Most of the private hospital rooms start from 2100 baht a night, add to that doctors and medication,, you might find you have to dip into your own pocket..

Best Regards

Price sounds very much like health insurance and not accident insurance.

You are right,,, I pay about 5,000 baht a year for accident Insurance

Is that with the same company (AIA)?

A point to remember is a P.A. (accident) policy is no substitute for a medical (health) insurance policy, but it is obviously cheaper due to the lower benefits.

There are a great variety of policies on offer so when looking for a P.A. policy you need to decided which benefits are important to you i.e. list your priorities. Example, is the Life benefit more important than the Medical expenses or maybe the Disability benefits and so on.

As Brokers we can offer polices from all insurance companies and so can fit the correct policy to your own requirements. LINK
