Siam Paragon

Featured Replies

My friend bought me a Texas Instruments BA II Plus financial calculator from Siam Paragon (3rd floor). I don't think I will need it much and it cost 1695 baht. I haven't opened or removed the packaging in any manner. I am planning to return it on Tuesday. Any idea if the shop will take it back and refund my money? I have not unpacked the calculator and it will be less than a week when I return it. Thank you.

I guess not, why should they?

please keep us updated on your progress

Even in Thailand the consumer law says that you have the right to return purchased items within 7 days after purchase.

I have such a feeling that Siam Paragon respects consumer laws.

Can I please have a source for that law?

Refund you the money? Your friend bought it as a gift for you looks like you're trying to make money from this no problem why would they refund you something unless it was damaged?

Umm.. it wasn't a gift. I need to pay my friend. He got it for me because I told him to get one a LONG time ago. He then did not confirm again before purchasing. Also, I do not want to avoid paying my friend, therefore, just in case if it would be possible to return the item back it would be great.

I'm not your lackey, do your home work yourself.

I know it is a law because Thailand consumer protection enforced it for me when I had a problem with a tablet that wasn't as promised.

You also want I proof that Thailand has a consumer protection agency?

You'll need the receipt.

You'll need the receipt.

Will that be enough (along with the fact that the product is intact and I am returning it within 7 days)? I will definitely go and check it out myself, but maybe you could tell me more if you had a similar experience? Thanks.

Your tablet wasn't "as promised", he just doesn't want his calculator, there's a big difference. There is no law that demands that retailers accept the return of items in his circumstances of just not wanting it anymore. Whether or not Siam Paragon respects any law anyway is irrelevant as the calculator wasn't bought from Siam Paragon, that's not a shop, it's a mall.

I have such a feeling that you don't even are in Thailand, because if you were you should know that at major shopping centers it is written in English on the billboard behind the service counter.

Go look at Big C service counter and read the huge billboard behind the counter.

It also clearly states that this rule doesn't apply to food items or items that are prone to an expiry date.

I've returned things to Paragon Department store (inside Siam Paragon, the mall) several times, and each time, so long as I had the original receipt, the goods were still in a saleable condition (usually unopened if it was sold as sealed), it met the timeline printed on the back of the receipt, and wasn't one of the few exceptions, the refund was quick and painless.

Give away as a present.....to family, friends or charity...
