To apply for a Non-B visa in Vientiane, Laos

Featured Replies

Hello!

I'm leaving for Vientiane this weekend to apply for a Non-B visa on the morning of January 26th

on Monday next week. I’d like to ask you some questions about it and have some updates on it.

1. By what time should I arrive at The Thai Consular Office on Bourichane Rd. (NOT The Thai

Embassy itself) to apply for a visa? I heard that it will get really busy there on Monday morning.

2. Will they accept your visa application so long as you get there by 12pm? Or is there a limit to

the number of applicants they will accept a day like 100 applicants?

3. By what time should I go back to The Thai Consular Office the next day so that I can pick up

my passport on a visa on it and leave there back for Thailand by 2pm?

Thank you.

You must be there before 11:30 to apply and pickup is the next afternoon at 1 pm.

See: http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/vientiane/en/consular/consular_check/

There is no limit on the number of applicants. There have been reports of people getting numbers as high as 500 on the visa run van days which are Monday and Thursday.

You should get there well before the 8:30 opening time. To avoid most of the crowd that will come later.

Hello Joe!

Thank you for your info and advice as always!

500 a day? That's amazing...

Do you pick up your passport according to the number you've got when applying for a visa like

*First come, first served?*

I was supposed to go to Savannakhet this week but the officer of the local office of MoF wrote an

approval letter addressed to The Thai Embassy in Vientiane by mistake so I MUST go to the capital

of Laos to appy for one, which will take 2 days... Amazing...

Thank you again for your time.

There was post from a member that had a similar problem. He contacted the consulate in Savannakhet and they said it would not be a problem because they are under the the embassy in Vientiane.

Hello Joe!

You mean that member was able to apply for a visa at Savannakhet with a letter addressed to Vientiane, right?

This is amazing, too.

PS It's the local office of *MoE,* NOT *MoF.*

Yes he was able to get his visa in Savannakhet with a document addressed to Vientiane/

Just amazing...

As for how to fill in the application form, I'm not sure exactly about the difference between "Date of Arrival in Thailand" and "Date of Previous visit to Thailand."

What exactly is this?

Thank you

Date of arrival is the day you expect to enter Thailand after your you up coming trip.

The date you last entered the country.

Hello Joe!

I thought you would say these but I had to ask you about them to be sure because I checked the application filled in by a member where he put the date of the last arrival in Thailand in the "Date of Arrival in Thailand" Field and the date of the last visit but one to Thailand in the "Date of Previous visit to Thailand."

What should I put in the "Countries for which the Passport is valid" Field? "All" like that member did?

Thank you.

Edited by Too

All countries.

Hello Joe!

Thank you for the info as always!

I'm leaving for Vientiane tonight to apply for a visa in Vientiane this coming

Monday morning. I DO hope I don't find as many as 500 applicants there then!
