Then and now in Thailand - how Thailand looked in years gone by

Featured Replies

Fascinating! Looks more interesting than now. Wide footpaths, not blocked by motorbikes, stalls. Everyone wearing shorts which are better suited to the tropics.

Is that a tram line running down one street?

I think I recognise a street or two, but can anyone add to this?

Thanks george, great link and love the photo's. thumbsup.gif

I clicked on the link http://pantip.com/topic/32850740 at the top of the page and found that there's even more photo's with descriptions too.

Lovely jubbly.

I am always a bit reluctant to post my own photos of Thailand in the 60.s so many of them have been used in publications without my permission , even the now official Operation Crown Association and Database is based purely on the illegal use of my own database and photo,s!!

What a terrible way to display the photos. I would have preferred before and after shots. It was difficult to understand the whole shot.

Oh wow, be awesome to travel back in time and see Bangkok/Thailand in those days.

I was just a young American kid in those days, and Bangkok was a lot more fun (socially) than it is now. In those days you could actually make some real Thai "friends", and hold a real "person-to-person", hour-long discussion (in English) with an (ahem) uneducated Thai rice farmer, and, on a multitude of interesting topics. What a difference 50-years has made. Thanks for sharing. I truly appreciate the effort you've made wai.gif
