3 Week trip too Vietnam Canbodia Thailand late May Advice Welcome

Hi first post .

Two Australian guys from Brisbane Queensland Late 40s 50s old. Putting together itinerary for trip . Welcome ideas input for trip .

So far have come up with return flights Brisbane / Bangkok / Saigon / So intending too see .

Vietnam first week from Saigon area . Tunnels / Long tan / Coastal Vung Tau.

Cambodia Phnom penh /Museums / Royal Palace Killing fields . Coastal [ Shinookville ] Then North to Siam reap Anchor wat /

Have heard boat trip might be out due too wet season for Phnom Penh to Siam reap . Perhaps see [ Preah vihear ] part of Cambodia / Thailand if possible on way back too Thailand .

Thailand

As last week perhaps head to South areas / Pattaya before Bangkok flight home .

One Question is it ok to drop flight from Saigon to Bangkok on return leg . As we intend to find own way too Bangkok .

In case you decide you want to (or have to) use the SGN-BKK return leg, I would suggest you take a one-way flight from SGN-REP (if it's not too expensive) then you can go by bus from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh (I recommend Giant Ibis) and bus again from PP to Sihanoukville (Giant Ibis again). It is possible to travel from Sihanoukville to Vietnam by road without going back to PP. Be aware that bus travel in Cambodia is often slow, uncomfortable and dangerous so if you do one big stretch by air that will help.

If you do go directly to Bangkok overland, then take the Koh Kong bus from Sihanoukville, then minibus from the border to Trat, then big bus to Ekamei bus station in Bangkok, or you can take a minibus from Trat to Pattaya (or there is one big bus that leaves Trat daily at 1200, those Thai minibuses are dangerous). Don't buy any through tickets, buy each sector separately as you begin each sector (but buy a couple of days in advance if possible).

Thanks for post Qeddeq , Have booked trip with Cathay Pacific online via sta travel late May . Heading from Brisbane aus Too Saigon via Hong Kong .

Will return too Brisbane aus 3 weeks later direct from Bangkok .

Have problem / issue with tickets have been in contact with sta same day I purchased online . They got back to me days later after tickets issued but they want $200 to change ticket name .

Example on passport John Jeffery Smith

Credit card I bought tickets John Smith

Name on purchased tickets Smith Jeffery Smith

Should I pursue further or ware it . I rang Cathay Pacific they said has to go through travel agent . Thanks Russell

Nice itinerary but there is no better time of year to get up to Hanoi and see Halong Bay.

I'd ditch the tunnels in favour of this....just my opinion.
