Giving away baobab trees (Andansonia Digitata) in Doi Saket

Featured Replies

Hi,

We have two baobabs that we would like to get rid of. One is quite tall, maybe about 5 - 6 meters, and the other is approx three meters tall. Attached is a pic of the larger one. If anyone is interested, send me a PM. You will need to dig them out of the ground yourself and cart them away too. If there are no takers we will just cut them down. But I thought I would make them available first in case anyone wants them.

Cheers

Very interesting photo's, I have actually been inside the prison baobab in Derby, North Western Australia. I doubt that the ones in Doi Saket will get to these proportions as the reason for that huge bulbous state is to store water for prolonged spells. In severe droughts in the Derby area they would cut these open for the cattle to get at the water stored in the flesh.

The Australian baobabs are a distinct species from the mainland African variety, which is what we have. They both get enormous. We actually have three and are keeping one. The one we are keeping doubled in size last year. I am hoping it does the same this year. One is enough for us, which is why we want to get rid of the other two.

If I had the room I would love to have them, what a great talking point when they get ginormas. I do hope someone takes you up on your offer as these are a great sight when grown.
