djjamie
Care to speculate on why you think there is a need to speculate? I think 'expound' is the word you were looking for. Well, this happened - http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/06/11/us-thailand-politics-china-idUSKBN0EM0FO20140611 and then this happened a week later - http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/736234-thailand-downgraded-to-be-among-worst-human-trafficking-centres/page-2 Goodness me. I nearly wet myself thinking you were going to present facts. I had your name in lights and was going to offer you the utmost respect... You sold me! You nearly had me. Not one link, but 2 mind you. AND THEN….. The first link was about China. Not about North Korea. With the other link highlighting a TVF member referring to"Thailand is considering proposing to the US that five Thai products be withdrawn from exports because producers here allegedly use child or forced labour" So………I hate to remind you, but it does not surprise me that I have too, BUT anything about North Korea? Remember 40 year anniversary? 30 year anniversary? 20 year anniversary? And so on and so on. I am not shacking my head because of shacky head syndrome. It is because I have no idea how you will argue your next point after you denied every fact and logical argument to present your last point. PS - This happened a week later - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Claus Seriously..Get some sleep mate and lets talk tomorrow!!! Popular Post bkkstooge
This baffles me, Daniel Russel a US Govt representative shows concern over Thailand's democratic future and meets YL for discussions. OK Fine but: 1. Where and When will the US Govt's rep meet Mohammed Morsi from Egypt and console him about his democratically elected Government's overthrow? 2. Where and when will the US Govt's rep meet Victor Yanukovych from Ukraine and console him about his democratically elected Government's overthrow? Answer to both It WON"T. Why? 1. Even though the current Egyptian Govt has sentenced hundreds of supporters of the Morsi Govt to death and jailed western journalists Uncle Sam remains mysteriously subdued about this Govt. 2. The overthrow of Victor Yanukovych's Democratically elected Govt has led (directly/indirectly) to a low level civil war in the east of Ukraine ( Although judging by the past week's news it's not that low level; anymore) and what criticism have we heard from the US directed at Petro Poroshenko's Govt? Sweet FA. How many meetings has the US had with Morsi? None So Why Thailand? Because Yinglack looks good? Because the current Govt has caused civil war here? (the opposite actually) Because the current Thai Govt admin's human rights record is as bad or worse than Muhammed Al Qassami? NO WAY. So again Why? Does big T have more clout than I'd give him credit for? Over to you PTP-Yinglack fanciers.
JomtienEats
The first link was about China. Not about North Korea. Popular Post Thai at Heart
This I call: 'an interference in internal affairs'! P.S.: With their (lack of decent) Intelligence it looks damn much as if the US (un-)diplomacy is pushing the Thais (even more) into the arms of the Chinese ogre... So sad, so stupid, as if they will never learn, and knowing that is (still today) the first-power-in-the-world. God protect the World, from America! No one is forced to do business with America. Most choose to do it because it has the world's largest economy and can be a huge buyer of another country's exports. It is the second largest buyer of Thai exports, behind only Japan. Part of the US and Japan issue with Thailand is its cozying up to China. This isn't all about the junta per se. The US and Japan aren't going to be allies with allies of China. Japan is very much afraid of China and the US is obligated to defend Japan. The US is also obligated by treaty to defend Thailand but that could change. The Junta is STUPID to ignore its two biggest export buyers in favor of China. If the US and Japan pulled manufacturing out of Thailand, Thailand would rocket back to the stone age. China can't replace those investments and jobs in Thailand nor would it ever be willing to. The US is sending a message as a direct result of the junta's actions regarding China vs US and Japan. "God protect the world from America." No, the world needs protection from China and Russia. Russia is being dealt with. Would Thailand nd China like to be next? The junta is stupid to ignore the USA and Japan because these two countries have massive experience of building and establishing multinationals with longevity. China has almost none. China has few global brands and as yet has little requirement to manufacture outside China. It need resources which Thailand doesn't have. China needs Thailand for logistics but thailand needs investment in factories and jobs. Who would u rather have. Great Wall or Toyota and GM. The Chinese won't play the game like the USA and japan anf Thailand would do well to be very careful otherwise they will end up getting royally screwed.
Popular Post NeverSure
This was a slap at the junta for cozying up to China so much. Clearly the junta has be re-orienting away from the US and towards China. The North Korean relations thing recently was another example of this. Care to speculate on why? I don't know about N. Korea. The US and the EU condemned the junta almost immediately and the junta lost face. In what it must have considered "retaliation" the junta made many moves toward the Chinese and many statements that were pro Chinese. Recently there was even a currency agreement meant by both countries to make a statement. There's the railroad deal, or so they say. The US, contrary to what the junta has said cut off some military aid and joint training. The junta, to save face talked to the Chinese. The US will back Japan before it backs Thailand and the Japanese are very afraid of China. China has threatened to take islands, tried to block shipping and air lanes. Japan relies on the US for defense and doesn't have a powerful military. The US and Japan operate in lockstep. The junta has shown over and over that it is blind and deaf to forming relationships. This includes the EU, not just the US. Obama's guy snubbed the junta as a statement. This was Obama all the way. This guy's department answers directly to Obama and not to Congress or anyone else. This was Obama telling the junta he's not going to tolerate their China sh1t. I know you were trying to insinuate it was something else but it wasn't. Thailand is in danger of losing the business of the US and Japan who are the foundation of Thai manufacturing and the two largest purchasers of Thai exports. Give the general enough rope...

The junta has cozied up to China, acting like it doesn't need its biggest industrial investors and export buyers. The free world doesn't see the junta as legitimate and there were such statements from other international places too. Regardless of what Yingluck did, two wrongs don't make a right. Add to that the junta's treatment of the US and Japan and as I said, the Thais may be lighting campfires by rubbing sticks together. The junta has no experience and no clue about international relations.

The charges were all well and good, even bio us perhaps but the method of trial was stupid. Appointing a load of your mates to convict your enemy is never a particularly transparent way of doing things and just encourages opposition. If there were any thought then she would have been tried in an openly reported trial so the public who were the injured party, could see Justice being done. That way people would have two legs to stand on when defending the impeachment for never was there a better case for impeachment than Yingluck and her rice scamming cronies.

Docno
Wow...all this constant crying about this "democracy" stuff. It looks amazing on paper alright, but in practice it hasn't lived up to it's power yet. All I can see is a bunch of countries run into the ground and struggling with all kinds of sheet, where "demo" is being ignored leading to even more issues. Can't wait for democrazy to fail worldwide or have a better thing worked out, as far as world politics go...rather take 1 dude/dudess with a brain that gets things done rather than that insolent bunch of hot air beating around the bush afraid to upset a child. We still have more pressing matters worldwide, this "illegal coup" just ain't one of the bigger ones. “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.” ― Winston S. Churchill The problem with your 'one guy with a brain' model is that you can never be sure if you will end up with a Lee Kwan Yew or a Josef Stalin. Ah, criminals, illegal passport issuers, fraudsters, cheats and liars - much more our types.
